We always enjoy very special fine dining at Cafe Ponte. Our six-course tasting menu started with delicious, velvety cauliflower bisque. Next, a piquantly seasoned salad of shredded brussel sprouts; then savory cavatelli in tomato-lamb ragu. Our selected entrees included NY Strip steak (spouse) and Faroe Island salmon (me). Both were lovingly prepared to perfection, creatively presented alongside exciting and unique sides. 5th course was a superb selection of cheeses plated w apple butter, honey-almonds, and cherry-crostini. Dessert was heavenly flourless chocolate torte. Service (by Scott) was impeccable and attentive. Several complimentary extras were provided including an amuse-bouche of beet puree, an apricot and passionfruit palate cleanser, and the cafe’s wonderful choices of breads. We purchased a lovely Riesling to accompany our dinner.
Caf Ponte is by far my favorite and most recommended fine dining restaurant in the Tampa Bay area. If you have not gone, go! It is in a non-descript shopping center in an area I would not expect nice restaurants. I would make a reservation and I would also look out for their tasting menus which they offer seasonally. There is no better way to experience their cuisine and often you can find Groupons for the tasting menu for half off. Either way, its well worth it and your palette will thank you. The chef designs such innovative and creative twists on favorites while incorporating unique elements. I have fallen in love with all thesefoods I havenever liked before all because of the wayCaf Ponte puts it together. What seems like a crazy combination turns out to be a crazy explosion of taste andtexture. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
World class restaurant, if you are looking for top quality produce perfectly prepared and served then this is the place.
Fantastic meal. Although not a stand alone and a little hard to find (in upscale shopping center complex) don’t let the trek distract you from a truly fine dining experience. The clientele is older but not stuffy. My family ate outside and with plenty of covering was very pleasant. Service was very good. Food was exceptional, starting with the fresh homemade bread (they don’t sell it, I asked). A little pricey but everything we ordered, and I do mean everything, was as good as any restaurant I have dined in. I travel all over the US and this place is right up there with the best. Can’t think of any negatives. Price of meal for 3 without drinks + tip was a little under $140. A must try and enjoy!
Excellent!!. Most delicious heirloom tomato salad I’ve ever had
My husband and I enjoy the atmosphere at Cafe Ponte. The pianist is excellent. Unfortunately the service is poor and they are over priced.
Excelent mushroom soup. Hidden gem with excellent fine dining options
