Great sushi. We’ve looked long and hard for a good sushi place in the area. I don’t normally think of Thai cuisine when I think of sushi, but they do a great job here. Our favorites are the Zombie and Red specialty rolls. The nigiri is also top notch.
Service?. I’ve been to this restaurant a few times and without fail the servers seat you then you just sit and wait. Maybe I’ve just had bad luck but there always seems to be 3-5 waitresses standing around and even when there are just a few people dining there. You just sit and wait. I don’t know if this is the standard treatment of guests but a welcome and glass of water would take the pressure off. Last time I sat for 10 minutes no service no greeting no water nothing then my wife and I decided to leave. When we walked out out and were driving away we noticed all these waitresses grinning at us at the windows which leads me to believe these people have some kind of attitude. I’m sure the food is good but the service has ruined it for me on one occasion. I also wonder about this old rundown strip mall they are in and if this establishment is really clean.
Excellent! I have been to quite a few of the Thai restaurants in the Clearwater area and this is definitely one of my favorite. The yellow curry chicken and spicy basil chicken are both delicious. However both a little spicy. The wait staff are very friendly and make helpful suggestions. I definitely suggest anyone who is unsure of trying it to try it. They won’t be disappointed. Comparable to Tom Yum and Thai coconut.
Never disappointed. I have never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered at Thai Bay. Some of my favorites are their Tom Kha Gai soup, Chicken Pad Thai, Garlic and Black Pepper Pork and their Curry dishes. So good. So flavorful. So fresh. If I could give an award for the best wait staff it would go to this place. Their servers are polite, friendly and attentive. You won’t find a better Thai restaurant in the area.
This is by far one of the best places to eat Thai food in this area! We strongly recommend eating at Thai Bay.
Sushi? Really?. I’ve been a fan since 2008. All of the Thai dishes are very good and the soups are excellent! This is not the typical place to look for sushi, but you are in for a treat! The rolls are excellent and sashimi is very fresh. You can’t go wrong with the Thai Bay roll and the others are what you would expect from a higher priced establishment. Overall, a very good experience that keeps me coming back when I’m in the area.
Ok, not great. The aspect that struck me was that as a party of 5, we were seated at a table for six. The waitress seemed to be in a major rush to remove the extra place setting. Even the chair was removed! This made me feel very uncomfortable, though the staff was pleasant. I ordered the green curry with tofu. The sauce was a bit sweet and no where near the heat it should have had. I’ve ordered this dish all across the country, and I have never seen it served with peas. It usually has green beans, carrots, straw mushroom, and your choice of protein. I don’t mind peas, but there were so many! The sushi was above average, but slow despite one other dining group in the restaurant. The dishes that were served to the rest of my family were fairly standard (chicken basil, pad thai). While good, were nothing special or great.
