3.5 Stars. I rounded up to 4 stars because you can’t beat the price. This is definitely a hole in the wall and reminded me of restaurants in Korea-town, New York, NY. It’s set back in a plaza with their name in Korean. When we walked in, it was pretty packed for 8 pm on a Saturday evening. We were seated right away. They provided us cold water from a tumbler and styrofoam cups. Also, the temperature inside was probably 90 degrees, it was actually cooler outside when we left.We ordered steamed dumplings to start. The dumplings took 15 minutes to come out. Once it came out, it was delicious. They provided complimentary banchan which included steamed bean sprouts, fish cakes, kimchi, and yellow pickled daikon. For my main entree, I ordered the bulgogi over rice which was $10.99 and a good size. It came with some lettuce. The portions were big; however, the meat was on the bland side. I asked for their Korean sauce that they use on bibimbap, that made it better. My husband ordered the spicy squid over rice, that was amazing and flavorful, I should’ve ordered that.Service-3.5 starsFood-3.5 starsPrice-4 starsAmbiance-3 starsI loved their chalkboard artwork. It’s not a fancy spot but it’s an affordable spot for good Korean food.
Wow!. I have been to Minji’s about 20 times in the last year. Upon arrival you are seated and receive your own little bottle of mineral water. A box in the table has metal and wooden chopsticks, forks, knives, and spoons. Most of the other customers are Koreans who seem to order, eat, and order some more. Nobody wants you to rush and free up the table. The decor is simple but the food is fantastic – fresh, aromatic, spicy, colorful. If this is your first Korean meal order Bibimbap plain or add meat or squid for a small up-price. Small side dishes (banchan) comes with your meal. I love them all – esp the kimchi, the mung beans and something that looks like spinach (only the little hotdog slices are not my favorites – but they will change that you at no charge and without bad feelings). I always leave happier than when I arrived and I have the feeling that I had a healthy and tasty meal.
The Best Korean Food in South Florida. This is a wonderful, authentic restaurant, and it is very cheap, under $8 (!) for most dishes. The restaurant is as simple as it gets, some tables and chairs and a TV with Korean shows. There is no decor, so this is not the place to impress your date with elegance. It is very comfortable though and not too noisy. The other customers when I was there were a large Korean family, who looked very happy with their dinner. The owner, who is very pleasant, speaks minimal English, so he can’t really give detailed explanations of the dishes. I am certainly not an expert in Korean food, but I have lived in a number of places in Asia, so I have some sense of what is authentic. I think this is. It seems like real, family style food. We had steamed dumplings, bulgogi and spicy pork, which I requested should be under spiced because I was with someone who cannot eat spicy food. Asking for unspicy food in Korean restaurants can be risky. It can signal to the cook that the food should be tasteless. That was NOT the case here. The food was well flavored, not bland, just not really hot. I think that takes some talent!Korean restaurants serve a variety of small vegetable dishes called (?) banchan with their meals. They can be the best part of the meal. They were wonderful at Minji’s, but so were the dumplings (homemade skins and filling, delicious) and main courses. In short, this is a gem. Help to keep it in business. Please encourage them to keep cooking REAL Korean family food, not typical South Florida Asian like so many other restaurants here.P.S. The restaurant is hard to find. It is in the shopping center with King’s Buffet in the back corner. It is worth looking for!
