We decided to try BurgerQue based on the reviews of the other location on Cleveland Ave. We ate on a Saturday night. No wait. In fact, only one other table was occupied when we arrived. But by the time we left there were 6 other occupied tables. The food: A nice, large menu. They had a separate kids menu. My son chose mac & cheese and tots. It did appear to be homemade. The sauce was a little grainy but that really didn’t bother me. It was creamy and tasty. He loved the tots. They are super crispy since they are deep fat fried. My husband had the Outlaw burger. It was supposed to be topped with brisket, mushrooms, onions, cheese and fries (really!). However he couldn’t taste any brisket or fries. In fact, he didn’t think they put it on. Although there was a slight bbq flavor so he was unsure as we didn’t see any. Side of beans were not mushy and had bbq flavor. Coleslaw tasted homemade but wasn’t anything to remember. I had a mushroom/swiss burger. It was ok. I was hoping for a toasted bun but if it was – it was barely toasted. The burgers are really thin. I like that. I don’t need a giant burger made out of a lb of meat. I could barely taste any mushrooms. In fact, I had to pull the cheese off to see if they were even on there. There were 5 small mushrooms. Not nearly enough in my opinion. We also sampled 1 rib. I like that you can purchase 1 rib if you are inclined. Sometimes you want a burger but still want just a taste of bbq! You can choose how much char you want on it. Light, medium or heavy. We chose light and sauced (vs natural). It was good but some of the fat had not rendered. They are St. Louis style ribs. On a side note my husband tried their crybaby relish and loved it. Too spicy for me to try but he said it was great. We will give this another try. We like it enough to go back for a second meal (trying other options). It has potential to be really good with a bit of tweaking. I cannot compare this to the other BurgerQue because we have not tried that location. The service was friendly and good.
