Service was polite and attentive. The food was very good, we especially enjoyed the buffalo shrimp and seared tuna appertizers. The prices were a bit high but that is the theme when on an island.

This is a reasonably priced pub-restaurant that also caters to families. Probably the most reasonably priced sit-down restaurant at the wonderful South Seas resort (e.g., raw oysters were cheaper than at a competing nearby restaurant). The menu includes many sandwiches, entrees and appetizers ( see photos). The food is certainly good enough but this is not a foodie kind of place. Interestingly the mussels come from Canada (i.e., not local). The sauce they came in was pretty good. I’m not sure why the raw oysters were accompanied by soup crackers but then one does not have to eat the crackers. On the whole this is a fine place for a family dinner. There was also a performer when we were there and he was pretty good.

Omg yucatan shrimp!!. Great service and the yucatan shrimp are incredible! The ribs are huge and delicious and the burger was standard but a solid choice! I like that they offer mocktails!

Culinary Excellence and the Best Staff!. I spent May 9th thru the 15th on Captiva Island and tried the new Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille on the very first night. I began with a ‘flight’ of three excellent rums and at the suggestion of my waiter, ordered the Yucatan Shrimp as an appetizer. It was so delicious and so well-prepared it was all I could do to not pick up the bowl and drink the spicy, buttery, limey, garlicky juice! The shrimp were gigantic and arrived pretty-as-a-picture, surrounded by triangles of crusty, authentic ‘Cuban’ bread. After finishing my first small order of Yucatan Shrimp (consisting of five (5) gigantic prawns!), I ordered another small order and decided to make it my entree as well. I cannot even describe how delicious the flavors are in this dish: fresh Key limes, minced garlic, clarified butter, spicy red Indonesian Sambal chili pepper sauce, sea salt, and minced jalapenos. I followed this decadence with a half-dozen of the freshest, coldest, sweetest raw oysters I have ever had, and washed the feast down with authentic mojitos. Being of Cuban ancestry, I know a good mojito when I taste it, and this was a GREAT Mojito! The greenest, tartest key limes, best white rum, and the freshest spearmint available. I have always enjoyed Doc Fords’ on Sanibel Island, but the new Captiva version is unbelievably good. Bartenders Nick, Heather and Steve were friendly, knowledgeable, and you could tell they were thrilled to be working there. They knew the food and beverage menus thoroughly and intimately, and loved sharing their preferences and suggestions with the diners. I ended up dining or drinking at Doc Ford’s Captiva in some capacity each and every day of my 6 day visit!

Plain bar food. Not a picturesque location and usual basic bar food, Not worth it

We had a great lunch. I had the original fish sandwich & my husband had the shrimp tacos. Both awesome! Also had great service. Tap water is bad. Order still or sparkling.
