Maria’s is an outstanding family owned and operated business. She has been around for years. I love the all you can eat fish fry. Her seafood gumbo is to die for! Great food and great service! I’ve been coming here for years and I tell all of my friends who come over this way to try it out. Not once have they come back to me and said they were disappointed. I actually think this was her second restaurant that used to be down the road. But since I am not sure which, I posted the same review on both names

Maria’s Old Florida Restaurant. After being a longtime customer of Maria’s Smokehouse since it started, we decided to try her new place. She was running it with no help and it was a madhouse. Took two hours there with most of the time was waiting. Other customers nearby were just as unhappy with the service. Decided to give it a second chance and found the service just as bad. Ordered Fried Grouper and got the fish fry and the waitress even offered us more. We know grouper from Suai. The waitress asked Maria and she said we got Grouper but we know we didn’t. We have continued to go to the Smokehouse. Her Son did a fantastic job running it himself. We went back after Maria closed the Old Florida Restaurant and she was running it without her Son. She greeted us when we came in and went in the other room. There were only two tables with people which was not a normal Friday night. After waiting for ten minutes for a menu or order taken we got up and left. Looks like Maria is taking it out on her old customers. We will not go back to the Smokehouse after going there for over 10 yrs.and recommending it to others.
Confusion. The pic of maria’s, is of the place down the road.there are two maria’sand I think people are confusing the two. I know I’m confued, sorry.I wonder about all the coments now.
Changed my mind. You know the food at Maria’s is good and certain things great! Steamer pots, crawfish and shrimp. BUT….went there Friday night and the place was full. Maria for some reason has decided to run this restaurant on NO staff. Shes in the kitchen and some kid who usually cleans is waiting tables. Going to a restaurant is more than good food but the experience as a whole including ambience, service, drinks and food. When we have to wait a ridiculous time for everything from a glass of wine, the food and then the check, it no longer is a good experience. And the kid was rude at one point when I commented on the long wait for our drinks. All the tables around us were waiting for something. The table next to us waited 25 min. for their check. I won’t be going back and am not reccomending it anymore to my friends.28 Jan, 2012Seafood to die for!. Maria only serves the freshest and best seafood. The steamer pots are excellent and very generous servings. Try the crawfish etouffee (more like creole crawfish) but fabulous. From gumbo to her bread pudding with whiskey sauce you will enjoy this place.
Terrible. Overpriced. A grouper lunch plate was 17.00 and tasted average. It took 15 minutes to get soda and two hours to grab lunch. Do not recommend!
