We were very disappointed in Mimi’s dinner this evening. The half chicken appeared to be warmed over. It was so dry and hard I struggled to cut it with a sharp knife, and couldn’t. Then I pickd it up thinking I could bite it, but it was so hard and dry I could not do that either. I doused it in oil, but that did not soften it up either. The two of us struggled with the same chicken dinner. It was a huge disappointment. Also, my fries were overcooked, dry, and cold. If it wasn’t for the drowning of the catsup on them, to make them edible, I would have left them. They will not be seeing us in their restaurant ever again!!!!!
I used to like Mimi’s Cafe. Now, with only 3 left in Florida, the Fort Myers’ Mimi’s looks like it is about to close. It’s short on staff, order and cleanliness. The huge parking lot surrounding the building had few cars, no one outside, no one in the lounge or back room and only 6 tables with customers at 6:30 pm on a weeknight. The menu is still large with diverse selections. Although there were few vegetarian or heart healthy options, I don’t think Mimi’s customer base is comprised of people looking for a healthy meal. I had grilled salmon with roast potatoes and spinach with tomato basil soup. It was delicious. The service was prompt, but a bit intrusive, insisting to point at a picture telling me that my meal would look like the picture. The acoustics are horrible. I could not understand the server unless she was yelling over the din created by the 6 tables. I doubt there will be any Mimi’s in Florida soon.
Mimi’s Cafe, Bell Tower Shops, Ft. Myers,Fl, Here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat.First the food. I enjoyed the OJ nice amount of pulp. Coffee was fine.(3.29)I got the pecan waffle. You can get pecans inside or on top. For extra 2 bucks you can get real maple syrup.I loved the waffles. My eggs were cook to perfection. The pork sausage were a delight.I was disappointed with the chicken/waffles. You get boneless chicken breast.. Not the real deal. It tasted ok but when you have had the real deal you can be disappointed. I was.Now the chit chat on a disappointing dining experience. It was Tuesday morn when I arrived. Approximately 1010 AM. I waited 15 minutes. When I was seated I ordered my OJ & coffee. 10 minutes later it arrived. I waited 10 more minutes when I needed to flag down my server to place my order. 15 minutes later I got my pecan waffle. Half way thru my waffle I had to ask for my eggs/ sausage plus a refill on the coffee. To make a long story short I was there for 1 hour and 20 minutes. If you look at my pics you will see there were empty tables abound.Food was good.Dining experience was terrible. Long time before I come back.
