Sunshine Delicious. Tonight was the second time I’ve enjoyed myself while dining on the porch of Sunshine Seafood. Each dining experience has been with my family – this time my daughter, mother and father. Previously, it was a much larger group this past summer. On each occasion, I found the wait staff to treat us like we were the only table in the establishment; very friendly, interested in your selections and very happy to see a completely finished plate. And you will want to eat everything on your plate. Tonight, we enjoyed the crab cakes to start along with another appetizer that included goat cheese and sea scallops. Both were cooked to perfection. As an entree, I enjoyed the pasta special which included shrimp and grouper in a pesto sauce. It was delightfully fresh and seasoned perfectly. For dessert the homemade key-lime pie was ordered by everyone at the table. My almost 2 year old even enjoyed spoonfuls of it between her vanilla ice cream. Sunshine Seafood is a treasure on Capitiva Island. Make sure to make reservations, especially during March – April or you may not get to enjoy a piece of their treasure.
If there is a better restaurant on Captiva let me know. Fantastic!
Wonderful experience! The people were terrific. It was fun eating outside even when it started to pour! The special tonight – grilled pompano with lobster sauce (with generous bits if lobster) melted in my mouth. The vegetables were lovely. And the key lime pie was yummy. An overall great meal and lovely experience!
Poorly prepared food. This was another disappointing meal on our trip to Captiva. The ambience was nice eating on the porch. Our waiter was very nice and the service was good. The bread and olive oil was the only really good thing about the meal. There is no full service bar and limited beer menu. I had the mussels and the flavor was ok, sauce too runny and it did not come with a crustini. My entree was horrid. I ordered the snapper piccata. The sauce was broken and terribly seasoned. I am not convinced the fish was fresh. The baby carrots had white spots on them like they were old and were almost raw. The rice tasted like it came from a box. My wife had salad with chicken and the chicken tasted like it was reheated in a microwave. They do not have a kids menu but have some limited items (pasta, chicken tenders). The shrimp cocktail my daughter ordered was tasty but it is hard to screw that up.Overall a very bland meal with food that tasted like it was reheated and from a can. We enjoy eating in nice restaurants on vacation and are foodies……this was a major disappointment.
Amazingly delicious food like none other on Captiva.. My guests were served pecan c4usted goatcheese salad with shrimp in a mango balsamic dressing. It was absolute perfection. We enjoyed the scallops and goat cheese appetizer which was mouthwatering and delicious. I enjoyeend the Chilean sea bass which was fabulous and my husband enjoyed the swordfish in a dill sauce. It is so difficult to understand how anyone
The average entree price is 30 dollars. Atmosphere inside is dull. Food is great if you are prepared for the cost.
The Paella was excellent. Service was somewhat inconsistent, but the food was great.
