Expensive yet mediocre food. Noisy. Slow service and not attentive. Very disappointing. Go to Keylime Bistro
For years we’ve gone here for Thanksgiving dinner and brought our family and friends. This year, after making reservations months ago, we were seated…not in the beautiful Florida-style Dining Room, but in the dark, dreary back room of the bar. The management didn’t care that we were unhappy with our table, and tried to pretend that it was exactly the same…but it was far from it!! The waiters were fine and the food was ok, but certainly not worth $45 a plate. Next year I think we’ll be going somewhere else…somewhere that cares about their customers!
The place to go for terrible fish.. This place was a huge disappointment, but let’s start with the positives. The atmosphere was nice, quiet, and very traditional. The service was excellent. They can easily accomodate large parties (like ours of 13). Now, the not so good….the food. I had the fennel encrusted ahi served medium rare. The tuna filet was actually medium rare, but the fennel crusting was charred to a crisp making the entire filet taste like a rubber shoe. The sides included under cooked broccolini and carrots drenched in some terrible lemon/mustard glaze, and saffron rissotto that was a big ball of paste. My wife had the twin Carribbean lobster tails. They were served steamed and covered with rosemary, basil, etc., etc. They did come with drawn butter which was the only saving grace. I’m a purist…lobster should be steamed or grilled and served with drawn butter. It doesn’t need any spices. Two members of the party had the grouper, and one the snapper. They were all disappointed as well. The only positive from dinner was that we got to eat together. All in all, I can say that there are 5-10 places in my hometown of Indianapolis where I can get better seafood.
Atmosphere was beautiful! Definitely a little dressy. Plantation style. Food and service amazing!!! Great view of sunset across the street after dinner
Excellent dinner with amazing service. We struggled with pickings place that would have quality food without children and that wasn’t so easy. We chose the Old Captiva House and we were completly satisfied. Great service and great food with a romantic feel.
First choice was Mad Hatter but it was closed bc they were on vacation…very bummed:( Old Captiva was second on the list and it was awful!!!! VERY overpriced and the food was nothing better than the McDonalds drive thru…literally go to McDonalds!!
Great place for a special occasion, sunset is amazing! Entrees $20 and over.
