So disappointed. Started with mozzarella sticks which were frozen out of a bag and heated up. I had ordered stuffed clams, which seemed to be the brand they sell in Publix. I received them frozen in the middle. I ordered chicken alfredo, which also seemed to be prepared much earlier, frozen and then microwaved as parts of it were piping hot and other parts lukewarm. Noodles were mushy, completely unseasoned My son (who can eat anything) ordered a burger and said it was tasteless and unseasoned. My other son got a steak. The cut was not good. It was requested medium rare and came back medium to medium-well. Because the cut was poor I didn’t even bother sending it back … it was also 100% not seasoned at all. The only good thing was the French fries.
Dog at the table. We were anxious to try Zachary’s last night for the first time. As we were waiting to be seated, a woman came in behind us with a dachshund dog wearing a service vest.We have no problems with service dogs attending their owners; however, this owner sat the dog on a chair next to her and the dog put his head and paws up on the table.I questioned the waitress about this because it seemed to me that the dog should not have been allowed to be up on the table. She said that the policy was to admit all service dogs and she was sorry if we were uncomfortable with that policy. We left – I am very uncomfortable eating where dogs are allowed to place their paws and head on a dining table!
How bad is bad? Pretty bad.. Let me tell you the name of a restaurant to NEVER go to… Zacharys south of Leesburg on US27. The food was adequate, I wont tell you the taste was all bad, but if there ever was a more poorly run restaurant, I would be surprised. The obvious things wrong were that every surface was hard, Granite tables, hard walls, hard floor – nothing to buffer the noise. Not a good atmosphere to begin with. When we arrived we had to wait for a table to be wiped down if that was all, no problem. There were four other people behind us that had to sit at the bar and wait for a table to be made ready the tables were empty but apparently they didnt know what to do with them so that someone could sit down. That was the first thing that positively drove me to distraction. First the hostess stood behind the tables that had once served a large group and stared at them, and stared at them she just couldnt decide what to do with them to make it so someone could sit down. She called her manager who came over and stared at them, and stared at them apparently he had the same problem. There were people waiting to be seated! But the two of them couldnt make a move to remedy a situation that looked obvious to me in 5 seconds. And once they moved the tables together (that I with my bad back and my friend who is 89 could have done alone without help), they still needed to wipe them down! Meanwhile, we had not seen a waitress and not been given menus. I should have left then, because it went straight downhill from there. I have to add that the restaurant was fairly busy for the four waitresses on duty there were 9 full tables. The waitress tried to take a couples order that came in five minutes after us (and we still didnt have menus (because everyone was staring at tables), and there were still four girls at the bar waiting for a table). So our waitress brought us menus and took our drink order and took their drink order too. Even though she did take our order first… the other table was still served five minutes before us. She brought us dinner rolls while we waited for our food… why would you bring three rolls for two people? Baffling. The food came, the steak was tough, but I chose not to send it back, because all she offered to do was cook it some more! How would that help? The steak was covered in a brown mushroom gravy so when all was said and done it was surprising how much of the steak was…fat! And the garlic mashed potatoes were cold, not not warm, but cold. She didnt offer to do anything about the potatoes until I was almost finished with my steak and brought them 10 min after I was done. Could it be any worse? Wait… We ordered a Bourbon infused chocolate cake there was no bourbon in that cake. The waitress said the bourbon was subtle, but I like the taste of bourbon in chocolate and this did not have even the slightest hint of that. It was good chocolate cake… but to my way of thinking it was NOT bourbon infused. The worst is yet to come. There were four televisions on the walls showing sports programming. I didnt think it had been billed as a sports club, but this was the worst… I was facing a tennis match, but my 89 year old neighbor was facing a brutal boxing match! She cringed and couldnt look and was exclaiming that the boxer was just pummeling the other guy and there was so much blood! Really? You put that kind of programming on your walls for patrons to view while enjoying a meal? Seriously? Now here is the clincher… If you had a patron that you know is unhappy, wouldnt you send the manager over? Unless you had the authority to remedy it yourself you would. But no manager, no free drink, no free dessert, nada. Just a kind word from the manager would have gone a long way, or a coupon for a future visit! It isnt smart to let a customer leave mad, they might write their local newspaper with a bad restaurant review.(Leesburg resident)
