Overcharged. Ordered simple lunch meal – menu listed price at $4.99. When I checked out the price was about $0.50 Higher. When I said that wasn’t the right price, and showed her in the menu, she said the prices just went up! We won’t be eating at this restuarant any more.
Pay Attention To Your Bill. The food is pretty good as well as the service. I’ve only been twice but noticed the same thing both times. They don’t bring your bill to the table, instead, they keep them all up at the cash register and you go up there, but they won’t hand you your bill, instead they just start entering things into the cash register. The first time, the guy gives me a figure a bit higher than I would have expected to pay and I just paid it because I hadn’t really kept track of it in my head. Of course on the drive home I thought it out in my head and realized I paid quite a bit more. The second time, I went to the cash register knowing exactly what I should be paying and again, the total I was given was higher, this time by about $4. I questioned him this time and he had a couple of answers but they didn’t make me happy. The menu states that they can make any dish vegetarian by removing the meat and substituting beans or cheese or vegetables but there is no mention that there is an upcharge for this. Not sure why there would be an upcharge for this but that was his reasoning. He said the server should have told us but she didn’t. He also said that they charge extra for extra chips and salsa and he told me that is on the menu. I’m ok with that, I’ve often wondered why Mexican restaurants will keep refilling chips and salsa without a charge as it has to be kind of expensive for them. The trouble that I had with this is that I didn’t ask for extra chips and salsa, the woman just replinished them. Doesn’t seem like they should charge you when you’re not requesting them. So anyway, it’s a nice place to eat in Madison and I’m sure we’ll eat again and this time we’ll know that getting the meat removed from our food will cost us more money.
