Jazz Tastings. Vibey venue, great food and superb live jazz performance. The best combination ever. This is what I experienced last night, Saturday 18th April 2015. As always at good places, I was among the very last to leave when this lovely place closed it’s doors in the early hours of Sunday.I shall definitely return.
Nice place -great music -disappointing experience. Very disappointed. Our first trip to the club was a disaster. We waited next to the bar for half an hour before seated at a table with another couple. Then we waited for over an hour before my husband flagged down a waitress for a drink. It was half an hour after taking our order before the waitress came back to ask what we had ordered. ..she forgot ? We went planning tapas and wine , but in three hours we had one glass of wine. Finally we ask for our check when no one cared to serve us. They brought us a check that had a ten dollar cover charge figured into the bill. We ask the server what the cover was and she said it was a door cover charge. We told her no one ever told us there was one and it not posted. She walked off and a young man came over. He said it was clearly printed on all of the menus. WE NEVER GOT A MENU and never even got to order food. He said it was the policy. I ask him where it is posted… on the door ..the wall…the bar ? He said. ..its not ! He said we were not the first to be shocked to see it on a bill. He never offered to take it off …and he said we did have to pay it even if we did not get a menu where it was posted. He did not offer to get the manager. The music was great. The band was awesome. The place is nice and the atmosphere was fun. It is worth the cover charge and I would have liked to have tried the food ,We never got to eat and the service was awful. It can not be legal to charge a cover charge that is not posted except on a menu and then not even give them a menu ? Disappointment in our first visit !

Average to Poor. Visited 12/30/14…If this place was in NYC they would not make it. Very slow and inept service; were way past our first drinks before even asked if wanted more. Food is very good but overpriced. Manager was most attentive to regular customers.
Not feeling Jazz Tastings at all!. As a real true jazzman coming from the DC area I was excited when I heard someone from the North had opened a Jazz Club here in Orlando. My first visit was a weekday evening in April 2012 so did not have a problem finding a seat. On my second visit a few days later I brought a neighbor along to show him what is needed badly in Orlando. It was not a busy night so getting a table was no problem. To my surprise there was a cat playing to a track and sometimes he was not even blowing the sax…bad! We had a glass of wine and tried a seafood appetizer and that was ok. When the check came to the table we were surprise to see a cover on the bill for what? A guy half playing a sax to a track…bad! and no sign was posted advising a cover charge…no problem paying a cover but to a fake sax player…bad!. On December 22, 2012, my neighbor and a friend from New York was in town and I said let’s go see if things are better. Well it was packed. We waited at the door and it took ten minutes for someone to come and let us know what we need to do for seating which a male subject said little to nothing. We decided to walk back by the kitchen door and wait for a seat at the bar thinking the bar seat would be first come…like any other resturant or jazz club. Well when three seats became available we sat down and was told to get up because the seats at the bar are reserved…Never in any jazz club unless you have paid top dollar for a National Recording Jazz Artist like Blues Alley in Washington, DC or many other places would a seat at the bar be reserved. That was the last straw and three strikes and you are out…never to return. The sad part when we exited the so call jazz club…the wife was standing at the door and did not part her lips to say anything..like hope you enjoyed yourself..or Happy Holidays…not a word. Everyone has an opinion but Jazz Tasting is a joke to Orlando. Coming from the DC area the owners should be ashame. Must be in the air down here in Orlando.
Perfect. I am a transient resident of Florida, born and raised in the blues and jazz hub that is Chicago; stepping into jazz tastings for me was like visiting home. There is absolutely nothing else like it in the central Florida area. The ambience was wonderful, the live music was even better. Drink prices and food prices are reasonable. The entertainment for the evening was The JT quartet with Daphne leading up the vocals, THEY WERE AMAZING! Such a refreshing new lounge, definitely a step above the status quo night life of Orlando. My wife and I will definitely return!
Heard the Executive Chef left due to conflicts in the establishment… There goes the good food… Wonder what’s next …. Went there over the weekend and other than the good food… Service was decent.. the hostess was outside smoking every 10 minutes… The owners don’t leave you to enjoy your hot food once it hits the table… A lot that can be said…I can honestly say I will never be back… What a shame
