I had heard the food was amazing and was skeptical as it looks like an upscale hot dog stand, no offence intended, they’ve made it verry clean and contemporary, and caters to mostly carry out with 2 well cleaned, painted picnic tables if you want to dine outside, well protected by awnings and weather proof sides on inclimate days, I ordered falafel and bubbaganoush, I mean any good Mediterranean should be judged on those 2, right. I casually mentioned next time I might try the zucchini pancakes. After about 5 minutes I received my to go containers and by the shear weight knew it was a bountiful plenty. As he handed the package to me he explained that he added a small piece.of zucchini pancake with sauce for me to taste, no charge. I sat and opened an amazing, beautiful and aromatic array of freshness. Ok, falafel is often the chick pea version of hush puppies at other places, not here, delicately flash fried, a paper thin crunchy crust encapsulates a creamy, yes, creamy, interior where tiny chunks of onion and spice are suspended in a light flavorful and comletely cooked center. The tzatziki was thick and spreadable instead of soupy with an herbascious flavor and only a hint of tahini. I am in veg head heaven…then I open the bubbaganoush, what is this? I’m used to a smokey spread of humus textured spread. Not so here, chunky and fresh with micro pieces of carrot, cucumber and other veg and herbs complimented a hint of smokiness from the eggplant. In short the best Mediterranean I have ever had…try it, grab some and take it home for a treat or enjoy the weather and people watch on one of the picnic benches…o and carnivore friends rave about the meat entrees…im going to be a regular!
On a friends suggestion we headed there for lunch on a breezy Saturday. We were greatly impressed with everything! The owner was alone that day and it was busy. He was very cordial and helpful with his suggestions. We had the meatball bowl and the chicken bowl. Both were filled with rice and tomato/onion salad inside a lava (thin bread) bowl. It’s double the size of a chipotle bowl! Amazing food! This is a definite win on our list!
There have been several restaurants at this location but Shish.co is the first one I tried and I am glad I did. I love turkish food and this place really does not disappoint. The owners are extremely nice and accommodating. I hope they stick around.
A delightful lunch at Shish.Co. My mom and I stumbled upon Shish.Co today and decided to try it for a late unch. We both have to avoid wheat, so couldn’t have the lavas or pita, but the owners were so helpful in helping us put together a delicious platter – chicken shish kebabs, rice, tomato and onion salads – they were delicious! And they went above and beyond by offering us tastes of the eggplant salad and the shishko mezze – delicious dips we had never had. They also let us try Turkish coffee which was a new one for us – they showed us how they made it and served it in beautiful cups and saucers. It was such a treat and we felt so welcomed! We will definitely tell our friends about it and look forward to more visits!
