Worst Overpriced Seafood. I ate at Pinchers Crab Shack in Lakewood Ranch yesterday and it was the worst seafood experience I’ve ever had. The shrimp was overcooked and very dry, the king crab legs were rubbery and the flavor was horrible. The service was good but the food was overpriced and tasted horrible. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.

I’m surprised this place is still in business.. We live near this restaurant and were really excited and eager to go there when it opened. I don’t like writing negative reviews but in hopes the owners make a change I will submit the truth about our experiences there. Our first visit was when they had been open for about a week. It was real busy. Our food was very salty and tasted like it was aged or poorly frozen. The fish on display had milky eyes (fresh fish should have somewhat clearer eyes) and appeared to be decomposing a bit. We chalked that visit up as it being new and swamped causing the help to be a little less careful about the product they served. Nevertheless about two months later we decided to give it a second chance with some out of town guests that wanted to try some less costly (they were buying dinner and had limited funds) seafood. I couldn’t believe it. It was groundhog day all over again. We were a bit embarrassed and shared with our guests that this wasn’t typical Florida food fare. So with that said, even though they seem to always have plenty of customers, we have written it off. Perhaps if it is still in business in a year or so we might give it a try to see if they have upped their game, but for now we choose to go elsewhere else.
Very good fried shrimp and others have good tuna mussels and grouper sandwich. Yummy hush puppies too. Will come back.
Busy, noisy, and some pretty good food. Busy restaurants are often good restaurants, and that was the case tonight. After a short wait we were seated and our server materialized almost immediately. She did an excellent job throughout our visit. The overwhelming decoration throughout the restaurant was fish. There is no mistaking this is a seafood restaurant. I started with a Crab & Corn Chowder followed by their Famous Fish & Chips. The chowder was pretty good. It was a little spicy and although it took a few spoonfulls for me to get used to the texture, by the time I finished my cup I wished I had ordered a bowl.I loved the chips part of my Fish & Chips, nicely prepared and seasoned. The fish part was good but very mild, so a little doctoring was in order. Just a little malt vinegar, or lemon and salt, improved the dish.It is a fairly large place with seating both inside and out, and was energetic (read loud). They have some TVs scattered around to keep up with the games this weekend kicks off college football season. Parking in the area can be a challenge.
Great experience. Went to lwr for the first time this weekend very family friendly and courteous staff we had blackend grouper tacos and shrimp scampi it was excellent the kids meals were free since we had entres they had great 2 for one specials on margaritas we will be back soon
Good spot for seafood in Lakewood Ranch. We’ve eaten here several times over the past year. Food has always been very good. We usually eat the black grouper or snapper specials and they are reliably good. Sides that we’ve liked include the fries, green beans with garlic, baked beans and really good cole slaw. Service is prompt and friendly and they have people walking around that typically check in to make sure we liked our visit/meal. Would be nice if they could get a few better beers on tap.
