The fish ribs were delicious if you don’t mind the bones. Fish Tacos were a big hit with Gus. Friendly, enthusiastic service! Clam chowder wasn’t special, but solidly good!

Beautiful view where you can often see dolphins. There is also live music and you can take a charter out. For a fee, whatever you catch and clean can be cooked for you and served with sides. You can sit inside or outside and the top level is available for rental.I went here with two of my friends. They both ordered the lobster mac and cheese and I got the grouper sandwich. Market price for grouper that day was $20 for the sandwich and$26 for the entre. We also ordered drinks. Two of us got a Shipwreck sangria and the other a vodka and soda. My friend said the vodka soda was good but both my other friend and I thought the sangria tasted funny. There was barely any fruit in it. It was like there was peach schnapps poured in a white wine with no brandy. The sangria had an yellowish tint to it, which I think was supposed to be orange juice. I kept mine and my friend switched hers out for a Shack punch which she said was good. The waitress was very understanding. The food came out in a timely manner and was very good. I enjoyed my grouper sandwich and fries. My friends really liked the lobster mac and cheese. Our waitress was very friendly and would answer any questions we had and gave descriptions of portion sizes. The place was not very busy when we came in but began to pick up. It seemed our waitress had one whole side of the establishment inside and out. We were more than half way through our meal before we were checked on again. In no way was she ignoring us, but physically going from table to table. It took a while to get ketchup for fries as it was not already on the table.I am on the fence about going back. All though the food was good and the view is spectacular, I feel you pay to look at the water. Living in Florida gives you many seafood options and when everything is an upcharge and already high, it is hard to justify subsequent visits. I think it is at least worth giving it a shot once.

New menu. Way out of my price range. Food was ok.

Terrible!. We ended up here because Starfish was closed, but we should’ve passed on dinner altogether. The food was awful and overpriced for what we got. Don’t waste your time or hard earned money!

Red lobster is better. No excuse for a resturant on the water. Better choices in the area. Avoid at all cost

Impressive view. Located in beautiful downtown Cortez (haha), the Shack is serving up both seafood and more landlubber options like prime rib and steaks. We all got seafood.I started with The Shacks Famous Clam Chowder, thick, salty and good. Next I had the Shacks Famous Fish Fingers, four pieces of some type of mild white fish, nicely battered. Not much flavor by itself but if you add some lemon and salt, or some vinegar, or some tartar sauce, you have a good and fairly inexpensive entre. To complete my meal I had the Key Lime Pie, made each morning from a 42 year old recipe. It had a nice smooth flavor, not very tart, with a good chocolate crust. Very easy to eat.My dining companions had the Blackened Tilapia and Fish & Chips. The tilapia fillets were small but actually spicy. Too often I find blackened this or that is in name only. For the fish & chips I was told the chips were good with a little crunch, the fish looked heavily battered. It is a large indoor dining room with more tables outside, and a great view. The Shack sits along the water facing west with a great view of the sunset. Service was friendly and excellent.

Not good. Have been coming to Anna Maria Island for 5+ years now, finally tried it. Over priced and very bland. Staff was friendly and courteous.
