Instant potatoes???. Went to dinner with my girlfriend on beautiful Marco Island. We were craving steak and fish. We saw that the hotel gave Chop 329 great reviews so we checked it out. My girlfriend ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and I ordered the encrusted grouper. We tried each others out just to make sure we were the same page, which we both confirmed. She got instant mashed potatoes and my grouper tasted fishy, it was not fresh at ALL!!! Although I must say the waiter was excellent! After being there for a few days and checking out other restaurants, I did not find ONE that had any decent food, everything is bland! Next time we go we’ll just do Mcdonalds and Subway.
Food was good though slightly over sauced and garlic laden – bit of a Floridan method used to overcome calloused pallets. Wait staff inattentive. Location good.
Great Steak and Seafood. We had a fabulous dinner here after a great day of boating on Marco Island. Started with fresh Florida stone crab claws for the table. The wedge salad was crisp and the applewood smoked bacon made it just perfect. My wife said the lobster bisque was the best she’s ever had. We shared a Porterhouse for two which was cooked to perfection. They serve it sliced on a hot sizzling platter. Would definitely return while visiting the area in the future.

This Is Not Tara’s Steak House. Chop 239 used to be Tara’s Steakhouse. My family and I would dream about the one time a year we would go to Tara’s for 10 years. This New Year’s Eve we found out that Tara’s was no longer there. However, we were assured by the staff that nothing had changed except the name. This is not so. The service was fair and the food was not the same. Granted, if we had never had Tara’s steaks we would have though Chop 239 was OK but way overpriced. Unfortunately, we will not be returning as we are too heartbroken that the divine ambrosia that was Tara’s steak is no longer there.

We dined at Chop239 the first week they were open. Our party of 6 had a variety of menu items consisting of surf & turf, short ribs, fresh grouper and a snapper that was encrusted in macadamia nuts and plantains. We were all very pleased with our meals and presentation of food. The wine list is extensive with a large offering of wines by the glass. Was recommended by our hotel concierge. Great waterfront location in an upscale shopping and dining complex 5 minutes from the hotel.
