Out exploring and getting hungry when we happened on this restaurant. Didn’t look too fancy, but we were really hungry and thought we would give it a try. A large crowd, Sunday church goers, but we managed to get a seat. We were waited on promptly, but thought it took a while to get our meal. My husband had liver and onions, mashed potatoes(gravy) and the days veggie special, while I had a large chef salad. I’ll have to take my husbands word on the liver(good) and my chef’s salad was all very fresh and more than I could eat. The prices were also reasonable.We would go back againif we were ever in the area at meal time.

So we take our food back to the cabin expecting hot amazing food….fries cold and old…grits were like a pancake ( they didn’t move) they do have amazing tarter sauce…very disappointed….we were thinking about having breakfast before we go back home to Orlando tomorrow but i’ll take my chances elsewhere. ..

Fort McCoy’s best kept little secret!!. The Gold Skillet Restaurant is one of the best restaurants that I have ever been too… The service is excellent the food is AMAZING, (good homecooked southern style food) and the best chicken fried steak ever!! I will definately be going back!!!
