My friend and I eat here occasionally since we usually get a good meal for a great price and the service has been good. This week we tried the meatloaf special, and it was not. Special. Not at all. This is the second time I have ordered meatloaf at a local mom and pop type place and apparently nobody knows how to make meatloaf that doesn’t taste like all filler and no meat. We will go back, will just order something else next time.
Disappointed. Just passing through Ocala and found Northgate Diner using Garmin, so we had no idea it was rated so high. Our experience wasnt particularly good, and I wonder now whether it was just not the right place for us today.Northgate doesnt look like much from the outside so I was surprised when we opened the door and found the place full. Well, almost full, we were directed to one table for two that was practically connected to the tables on either side. So it was crowded together, busy places are good places, right?It was just under 30 minutes from when we ordered until the food arrived. I suppose the lack of personal space and the delay getting the food when we still had so far to drive today soured our dining adventure. At least it was a diner, so the food should be good…but it wasnt.I had the Open faced Roast Beef. It wasnt terrible but it was not much food and nothing seemed particularly good. Slices of dry roast beef (dry but with gravy) with some gristle, frozen not fresh veggies, and pretty standard mashed potatoes. Neither of us were served anything that stood out in a good way. We finished and were waiting for our check, anxious to get going. Once we could flag down our server we learned our check was at the register. Not really great service if we are not locals and would not know we needed to go to the register empty-handed. I thought that was a final unnecessary delay. Our experience was not good. Maybe if we werent in a hurry, had picked a slower time, got a recommendation from our server, it would have been better.
A country breakfast the way God intended! If you’re in the area, skip right past Bob Evans. Hash browns soft and crispy, High rise, fluffy biscuit. Friendly, good and quick service.
We had groupon so we tried this place out and I’m extremely happy we did. The amount of food you get for the money is amazing and the taste is even better. Really cute diner and great service.

Excellent food, excellent service. They always have a smile and always make me feel welcome. If you are ever on this side of town, don’t hesitate to check it out!!
The service was fast and good the food was good a country feel in an old small strip mall most of the people In there were regulars and very friendly I will stop again if i’m passing through.
