Sweet place where the atmosphere makes the meal. The chowder and gumbo is excellent, other food is average, but worth a trip! Great jazz music on our visit! Gotta sit outside!
Super fun atmosphere. Food is usually good. Great bar scene and fun. We have small kids, 8 and 6, and felt perfectly comfortable. Inside or outside seating. It’s a must go whenever we are in town.
My favorite place in Jenson Beach! Prefer to sit outside as indoors is noisy. The patio is tree lined and on cold evenings they have plenty of heaters. I’ve watched the band on Thursdays (The Shakers) grow up over the 30 years I’ve been coming here. Tonight we shared oysters which were perfect. My entree was the original Jambalaya over rice. Not on the menu. The menu offers jambalaya pasta. It was hot and spicy and delicious. The Manhattan I had to drink was just as it should be and not watered down from shaking it with the ice for too long. Highly recommend this great place but come early on Thursdays or you’ll have a long wait to sit on the patio.
Was regulated to a bar seatConstant server trafficFood is a poor imitation of true New Orleans foodOverpriced small portionsTourist trapYou can do better
Wow, I had really high hopes. In fairness it’s just one visit but here goes… The place itself is great looking and despite the early September date, eating out on the patio was pleasant. The staff has been good and attentive. I just ordered apps but tried to find a New Orleans signature dish as a barometer. I chose BBQ shrimp. It’s a classic. My Cesar salad was good and of a nice size. I ordered a half a dozen raw oysters. They were solid(what’s to screw up?) They even had my preferred Crystal hot sauce. Oh, and the bread was ok. That’s were the praise ends. The BBQ shrimp was essentially tail on shrimp creole without the rice. Shrimp in red gravy, that was it. I was looking forward to getting elbow deep in peppery butter and sopping it up until I could feel the need to take a Lipitor but alas, no such luck. I can’t speak for the rest of the food, but avoid the BBQ shrimp.
I loveeeee crawdaddys! Super cool atmosphere outside with the trees and bars. Prices are fair for the quality. Of course I got the crawfish, sooo good with the sauce! The fish dip wasn’t the best I’ve had, but it was still yummy. I would recommend this place for a date night!
