A dark cave with okay food. Caipirinha!. This is one of the few places in Melbourne to get a Caipirinha (Brazil’s national cocktail). This restaurant is situated in downtown Melbourne next to Island Pasta. We were there on a Friday night and there were very few people in the restaurant. The decor is elegant and there’s a large platform at the front of the restaurant that can be used for entertainment, although there was no entertainment when we were there. The place is cold and dark. Away from the windows, it feels very cave-like and ominous. Also when we got there, the pop-culture music was blaring, but they turned it down when we asked. Music in a restaurant should not compete with the table conversation. Our waitress, Taylor, was very nice and accommodating. She checked on us several times during the meal. The food that we had was good — not fantastic, but decent tapas. We had the Penne Pasta which is vegetarian and was properly seasoned and cooked al dente. Unfortunately, they used roasted red peppers from a jar. Making your own roasted red peppers is not hard and tastes so much better. We also shared the tasty Stuffed Zucchini Cups which were beautifully prepared and had cow’s milk feta cheese, tomato, basil, balsamic drizzle, and a small Parmesan crisp. We finished with the Puerto Rican flan which is supposedly from the recipe of one of the owner’s grandmothers. Unlike a traditional flan, this had the consistency of a cheese cake. It was very good and came with a caramel sauce and overly sweet whipped cream. They also offered wasabi aoili deviled eggs with seared tuna. I wish I could have gotten it without the tuna as it sound delicious.

Bleh. I have been there numerous times with groups of 10 or so people. The service is always painfully slow. We spend $100 per couple to have a few tapas and a drink or two. It is a steep price to still leave fairly hungry. Your butt hurts too, from sitting on those awful seats for hours and hours. Glasses are always empty. There is always a need unmet. It just isn’t an enjoyable evening. Food is alright but not for the money. Drinks are on the light side.

Very Nice. Took my fifteen and twelve year old sisters out for a birthday dinner. Wait staff was accomidating and friendly, unlike some other downtown restaraunts, letting us order a few things at a time before ordering more. We went on Tapas Tuesday, so everything was $4, and well worth the money. Tried Bruschetta (The feta made it interesting and the bread was good,) Tuna Tartare (Amazing. Wasabi foam was delish and the melon was a lovely addition,) Pork Dumplings (I found the broth a little sweet, but my sisters loved it,) crab wontons (Good, not my favorite,) and the melon carpacio (delicious dressing on the side.) I was really happy to be able to get dinner for three for under thirty dollars, and seven plates were more than enough. Make sure you grab a menu on your way out, there’s a coupon on the back.

Great place to hang out! Food is excellent and prices were less than expected. My friend and I ordered three plates- the bruschetta, tostones, and crab wontons. Plenty of food for the two of us. Everything was fresh and delicious. Lots to choose from on the menu and the specialty drinks were great as well. The ambiance is super chill, especially if you’re not in the mood for blaring music and inebriated 20 something’s. I can’t wait to go back!!!
