The lamb was overcooked even though I ordered it medium rare. The chicken was dry, the salad was dull. When I mentioned this to the cook she was rude and dismissive. The prices were too high for the poor food and the Staff was awful.
This is a small Mediterranean Cafe in Melbourne. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the food is well executed. If you are looking for a casual dining experience for lunch or dinner Cedar’s will not disappoint.
All I have to say is WOW! Amazing food! My first experience with Lebanese food was while I lived in New Jersey and I was disappointed when I moved thinking there wasn’t anything in Melbourne remotely close to it. I was blown away by Cedar’s Cafe and definitely look forward to dining here more often!
EXTREMELY skimpy take out. After going to Cedars for 11 years, and noticing the quantity declining with take out over the last five years, tonight’s pick 3 takeout was the worst ever. The picture attached proves my point. Stunningly disappointing.
Good food and service if you go before 7:30. We live the Melbourne area and frequent Cedars Caf about 6 or 7 times per year and usually enjoy our dining experience. However, we have discovered that if you go past 7:15 – 7:30 (they close at 8:00 if you can believe that!) the food is over cooked and watered down. The service is mediocre because the staff is busy doing closing chores and not paying attention to the customers. While we were eating, the staff swept the floors in the dining room and started flashing the lights at 8:00. We had not finished our wine but felt as if we were not welcome, it was time to go. This place is great for a lunch or a very early dinner but DO NOT GO past 7;15 to 7:30 or you will be rushed through your dinner and be served left over style food.
Authentic food, great service, glad this little gem is so close to home. Just wish they were open Sunday or Monday as I always seem to stop by on those days.
04Apr14. Very bland. All 3 dishes tasted the same. Baklava was meh. Better food elsewhere. Tables were dirty. Will never go back.
