I’d say Meg O’Malley’s is your go to for comfort Irish fixings like Bangers and Mash. Good Irish music, on weekends, excellent ambience. The fish and chips is also fabulous, perfectly battered and fried, hitting the mark. For dessert, I had the bread pudding, and I promise you’re not going to regret your choice. Absolutely amazing. Good booze, and food! One of the few good restaurants in Melbourne, FL!
Been here several times & the food deserves a 5.0, as do most of the servers. The crowd control at front door deserves less than a 0.0!! The fire inspector really needs to check the human traffic jam inside the front door! It is UNSAFE!Tried to make a reservation for a birthday party group of 6, but the unhelpful phone answerer said it had to be a group of 8. Wish we would have just said we were 8 & said 2 canceled when we got there. We went there anyway & boy was that a mistake. They said it was an hour wait. No where to wait & one person in our group has trouble standing & walking. They asked for my cell number & they called, well over an hour later… as our meals were being served at Bunky’s. Bunky’s ended up being surprisingly good & the evening worked out for the best… other than the negative feelings we all now have for Meg’s.
The atmosphere and decor of this lovely Irish Pub is inviting. The food is good and it has good choices, however our experience here was ruined by the excessively loud voices from the bar. If you go to eat get as far away from the bar as you can. It will help some but not much.
Meg O’Malley’s is a very good Irish-American Pub. I say that as opposed to saying it’s an Irish Pub, because it’s an Irish Pub the way Cinderella’s Castle is a castle. It looks like a castle the way you might think of one, if you’ve never seen a real castle, and it matches your expectations more than the real thing might. Calm yourself though. I’m not being critical in a bad way about it. You’ll probably like it better than if it was more authentic. The food is very good. It’s Irish caricature food to a large extent, with burgers and Americanized foods as well. I like their corned beef Cuban Sandwich, for example. There’s nothing Irish about it except, I suppose, people think corned beef seems Irish. There’s nothing Cuban about it either, but that’s ok. It’s very good. I do tend to have a Guinness with it. Does that help? The place is clean. They have sports on tv. They have a nice looking bar and wood booths. The service is generally good. People love the place. Don’t be so up tight. I love all things Irish. You’ll have a good meal here. You weren’t really going to order the bangers and mash anyway.
Meg O’Malley’s possibly one of the best restaurants in the area. Have been their twice had the shepherd’s pie and their meatloaf both were excellent. My wife had the Cuban corned beef and the fish and chips. Again both excellent. Atmosphere was great very Irish pub. Great service and friendly wait staff. Good drinks but the best food we’ve had in the area. A definite must do if your in the area.
If you’re looking for good pub food, this is the place to go. I’ve had multiple dishes on their menu and have liked everything I’ve ordered.
Really Good Irish Pub fare worth a drive to Melbourne. In addition to some great Irish beers and cocktails, the menu is full of great Irish pub fare. Starers include items like lamb sliders, corned beef sliders, potato balls and a cheese & ale crock. Mains range from traditional pub sandwiches like the Kilkenny and a Dubliner chicken sandwich to a variety of burgers. Of course there is your standard fish and chips, bangers & mash, and corned beef and cabbage as well as roasted lamb shank and pot roast. Our first starter was the Potato Balls. Made of mashed potatoes, chopped corned beef, scallions and Farmhouse cheddar rolled up, breaded and fried. Really tasty, especially with a pint of Guinness. The Cheese & Ale Crock is a must have starter. It’s a mixture of Irish ale, Farmhouse cheddar, and Dubliner cheeses served with an assortment of breads for dipping (Irish soda bread, brown bread, and garlic toast) The Kilkenny sandwich is an Irish Reuben with sliced corned beef, Swiss, cabbage, and 1000 Island dressing on grilled rye bread. This sandwich was good, and loaded with meat too. The Shepherds Pie has ground beef in a rich broth with root vegetables and sweet peas, topped with colcannon and served with buttered cabbage and brown bread. For $2.00 extra, you can have it topped with macaroni and cheese. It’s hard to find good Fish & Chips. It seems simple enough, but I’ve had my fair share of bad fish & chips. I was excited to find that Meg O’ Malley’s fish & chips were rather exceptional. I enjoyed the Corned Beef and Cabbage with corned beef brisket served with buttered cabbage, sweet carrots, whole grain mustard, brown bread, and choice of colcannon or boiled red bliss potatoes. For our birthday celebration, we received a free order of MOM’s Bread Pudding made from an old Irish recipe topped with whipped cream and a warm drunken raisin sauce. Meg O’ Malley’s provided exceptional service for our party of five, and everyone really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. They draw a pretty good crowd most nights of the week, but if you plan on going there on the weekends, be prepared to wait. As you might imagine, Meg’s has one of the best St. Patrick’s day celebrations on the east coast. Festivities usually last all week long with a street party on the weekend. orlandotastes.com
