6 Feb 2018. We have never eaten at this restaurant but had hoped to enjoy a Valentines Day dinner here. We made a reservation and thought all was set for our special occasion. Today we received a call from the restaurant informing us that they would need to change our seating time and seating location. Neither of those options worked…very disappointing and impression of this restaurant.
The food here was fine, but dont expect fine dining. I had a steak medallion sandwich and the portion was good. It was very spices though which was unexpected, but not a bad thing. The steak in it was a perfect medium rare. I decided to pay a bit extra and get the mac and cheese. It wasnt my best decision. It was over baked, dry, and fairly flavorless. Not horrible, just bland. For an app I had the pretzel and beer cheese, with mustard dipping sauce. I liked it a lot, but if youre not a fan of salt, steer clear.2 things I really didnt like. First the menu had a strawberry daiquiri listed at $6. I pointed to it and told my waiter I want that only without alcohol. He took the order and later delivered a virgin daiquiri just like I ordered. The problem was they charged me $8 not $6. So I get to pay extra because I didnt want alcohol since I was driving. He explained the $6 version was a premix, and mine had to be made from scratch. Nice explanation, too bad it wasnt given before the drink. So I took $2 off the tip. Lesson learned for both of us. The second and more important thing I didnt like, and its always a pet peeve, is greasy salt and pepper shakers and condiment jars that are dirty from previous use. This place had both. Please, wipe the off between services, it matters.Overall I would eat there again, the prices were fair, the service was ok, and the food was pretty good. The salt and pepper shakers and Condiments? Ill just grab them with napkins.
Excellent seafood and drinks. Rolled through Melbourne on business and was looking for some good eats on a Wednesday night. The Mansion is about three eating areas in one location. A little confusing on where to go to get a seat. I took a seat in the Tavern to watch the game. A busy evening but drinks were fast, apps (ordered the wedge with bleu) arrived quickly thereafter and the bartender recommended the fresh salmon over spinach, capers and lemon sauced mash. Blackened Salmon ordered medium rare cooked perfect. They have nearly every beer imaginable on tap. Everything was great. Recommended. If eating on a weekend or holiday recommend getting a reservation.
