Dont Eat Female Crabs. People ask the same question over and over, why are there no Crabs ??? I went to ms Apples Saturday 4-11-15 .. I saw first hand why there is a shortage on crabs,, 98% of the Crabs at ms. Apples were FEMALE CRABS . When I told ms Apple we did not eat female crabs she asked where were we from Baltimore ?, I said NO we are from Virginia . the people from MD & VA know the meaning of protecting the futures resources there for do not eat the hand that feeds you (Females). I know ms Apple is not only one to do this , but the amount of females was ridiculous. And no they were not local Crabs , guess that’s why ms Apple cant get local Crabs.. We bought the male crabs and they cooked them for us and tasted good !
Fresh seafood. Not your typical place but they shouldn’t stop you from giving it a try. Have a plethora of seafood which you can choose on the spot and have them cook it for you or you can choose a pre made selection and warm it up… You also have the option to buy it and cook yourself. Has a nice family owned type of feel and prices aren’t overly outrageous.
Very awesome place! workers are super friendly and the seafood selection is awesome. Live blue crabs steamed with old bay, cant go wrong.
My family frequents ms apple because of the fresh crabs you can have there but we went there last week & its the first time i asked for my receipt ( they usually give the one that you signed for the total bill ) & when i was checking on the receipt it was charged for cleaning the crabs ( which they are saying they will clean your crabs for FREE ) plus a $5 for i dont know ) it was just a hunch that i asked for a receipt for the last time we went there, one of the customers was complaining that ms apples is cheating customers by giving only 11 crabs when they ordered for 12, it was the second time that happened to them he claimed…so i assume that not only they’re cheating for missing cooked crabs but they overcharge you too. So patrons, if you really love crabs, its a good place, i recommend it but just be sure to check on everything. Check your crabs & your receipt, got it?!
You have to like the crab shack. Yes, it is definitely more of a market and a take out place only, but their food! Get the seafood rice, you will want a bucket of it. Their clams are HUGE and their seafood so, so fresh! It is a hole in the wall…but if is the best! Worthy of calling in Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!
This place is pretty awesome. You get to pick the Crabs live out of the water that you want to eat, and then they cook them right there. Very fresh and very tasty. I would consider this more of a market and not a restaurant. They only had cans of soda, no beer. But their food was amazing. Will return again.
