If I could give it 0 I would.. so let’s beginThere are so many restaurants you walk by on this strip that it can be overwhelming.. As Tourists you are being forced by each host to come and eat at their restaurant. We walked by this place and finally gave in. He told us there was a 2 for 1 deal.Decor/AmbianceWe sat outside right by the street. There was good music, it was warm, and breezy. That’s about the only thing that was good.Later on I went inside this establishment to use the bathroom. The inside was to my suprise an empty area with a bar & a few chairs (not a restaurant inside). I go downstairs and the bathroom was the most horrid thing I have ever seen. The doors didn’t lock, not one of them was even remotely clean for me to use. No toilet paper, water all over the ground, Some of the taps didn’t work. It was dingy!Menu:The menu was all over the place, from typical bar food, to mexican to pasta? I was interested in 2 things on the menu but they were out of both. Please tell me why I didn’t get up right there and leave. Instead I forced my self to choose Alfredo pasta. Now none of us drink Alcohol so we opted to choose a Virgin daiquiri and Mojito. The Alfredo: was disgusting it was cold, lacked flavor, texture was off.The daquiri: was OK, It tasted like a slushyThe mojito: tasted like lime waterOne thing we noticed that the glasses were huge (Fishbowls) this is where they rip you off which I found out later.Prices:Remember we were told it was 2 for 1.First off, I’m not complaining about the food prices. We knew what we were going to pay for them. It was definitely not worth the price but at least we knew what we were in for. This is where they trick you. $50 for both drinks PLUS some service charge. We call over the server and ask him why we were charged 25$ per drink plus service? When 1) it was a virgin 2) you said it was 2 for 1 deal? His response: Oh the Fishbowls are 25$ for virgins and $38 for Alcohol. And 2 for 1 deal finished so it is no longer available. There were NO Prices on the menu, there was no mention of Fishbowls when I had looked it over. I’m not one to get stuff without looking to see what I paying. But you think OK maybe they will charge 10-15 at most. After complaining to him that this is not what was agreed he said it was on the menu ad magically brought a menu over (one with prices on it). At this point. You think omg maybe I read wrong. You walk away paying for over 50 for slushies alone..Then you search this place up and it is one of the worst places on oceans drive. Scamming everyone, over priced drinks! They have a menu with and without prices. This place is a tourist trap. Given the amount of horrible reviews they have I’m suprised it’s still operating.Unfortunately we were scammed so this is just a warning to everyone. There are far better places to try.Avoid!

Beware. Review the check prior to paying. I would not eat here again. The wait staff was very friendly the food was ok. The hostess told us that my daughter’s dinner was comped, we would get a 20% discount on our ticket and the drinks were 2 for 1. But when we received our bill, noticed that my daughters food was charged and they had not given us the 20% off. The waiter apologized and gave us a 4 drinks and a desert on the house. When I got home, noticed that we were charged for all the drinks we had. In total we were over charged around $200 and even though I thought the $84 service fee was extreme, I am not complaining about that. It is just unbelievable.

Since I like to prove people wrong and being a frequent traveler to South Beach, I took the time to have brunch with a party of 5 for a friend’s birthday. A leap of faith turned into a perfect opportunity to put this restaurant to the test. In short: they approved with flying colors. In my experience they deserve 5 stars so I am rating it as such. Being in Ocean Drive you get acquainted with sidewalk cafes that cover almost its entirety on the southbound lane. Must of the eager servers will approach passer-byers with inviting offers to join them for lunch or dinner. Some are annoying, some are unbearable, and few are nice enough to accept their welcoming in. Our seating arrangement was comfortable. We ordered two sample platters, which were not bad at all (satisfying for all 5 of us). Each ordered a different main course after being helped by the attentive manager who kindly assisted our server. Pasta not necessarily the best in the world but definitely above average. Rigatoni Matriciana was our favorite (Fettuccini Alfredo was OK). One of us ordered a Colony Salad and was quite satisfied with the presentation (which would have otherwise been considered a signature dish). None of us tried pizza or paella. Instead we went for Cazuela and Red Snapper. These last two dishes do take caring in preparation and presentation, and we certainly were impressed with both. One thing we have to thank our predecessors is the fact that certain drinks do seem pricey, and that is clearly noticeable by the posters in the door. Considering that must diners avoid a potentially embarrassing moment by having to ask for prices before they order, this restaurant’s drink options may have an impact on anybody’s budget, but then again it is such a possibility in any place around this tourist area. Our male partners stuck to cold coronas and ladies preferred non-alcoholic refillable softdrinks (served in large cups I must add). Last but not least, and quoting a fellow reviewer, they did take their sweet time in bringing water and coffee at the end of our meal, but then again it offered an opportunity to chat and observe rather colorful people. Our bill was split into 4 with no issues. We debated about whether or not to leave a tip. A divided decision added up to an equivalent of 15% of our bill. That did put a nice smile on our server’s face who immediately offered some free shots (which we declined but appreciated anyways). The hospitality industry is tough. Columbus Restaurant is no exception. We were pleased with our visit. Do give this establishment, as well as many others, a chance to serve you in your next visit to South Beach.
