Two of us went for dinner. While there are a la carte menu items, the focus is on the Indonesian rijsttafel, a selection of smaller plates. It seemed to me that guests were strongly encouraged to have the rijsttafel over ordering a la carte, but I am not sure why (rijsttafel ranges from 32 to ~36 pp, a la carte items are high teens to low 20s). The food was flavourful & well prepared. However, all dishes would have been better if a little hotter (ie: temperature, not spice). All the ‘hot’ dishes were lukewarm, which was disappointing. The room ambience is pleasant & the wait staff were fairly attentive. An 18% gratuity was included when the bill arrived, but then there was another space for a tip on the credit card slip, with suggested amounts. I think wait staff should advise diners that a gratuity is automatically added to the bill to ensure some diners don’t inadvertently tip twice.
