A Total Disappointment: Bad Food/Bad Service. The food was bland, unless you smother it with the hottest sauces on the planet! The staff was never present and annoyed when you asked questions on the preperation of the dishes. Water glasses were left unfilled, until you brought to their attention. Another MB restaurant that will not make a year anniversary. We hope a great chef and staff takes over the space and we can truly have a wonderful neighborhood restaurant. We were a party of four and three main courses were delivered, but the fourth was left behind? When ordering dessert, since we were still hungry, the wrong one was brought and it was intended for one person not the one which was ordered for the entire party of 4. Then the waiter blamed one of the guests! I have never seen such rude behavior. Is this chain ridding on it’s laurels of what exists in Mexico? Good Luck. We will not be going back or recommending to anyone in the neighborhood.
HORRIBLE. Went there last Sunday Aug. 10, 2014. Forget this place, They advertise on Miami Spice for Sunday Dinner and than refuse to honor it saying that weekends are excluded, moron waiter wouldn’t even look at my phone to see that they are offering it on the site. Servers are a bunch of jokers hanging around as there were only 5 tables occupied inside and 0 outside, We should have taken that as a sign of what was to come.Oh well, you can’t change stupid, So we ordered from the regular menu and the food quality was poor.The fish tacos were 3 two 1/2 inch tacos filled with frozen salmon with smoke flavor to try to mask the frozen mess. , they were gross, didn’t care about portion sized because they were bad!The 3 glasses of corn and mayonnaise appetizer was a joke , they put on a show with a cart and it was only exceeded by the tacos as being gross.The grouper ,was a little better but nothing to even stand out as being good.Overall it is a tourist trap that needs to either step up the quality of their bad service, and crappy food, or get out of that nice space and let a real restaurant in there. We live a block away and there is no way this place will be here in 1 year , unless they do a major revamping.I would Avoid at all costs. In my opinion you will spend $$$ here and be disappointed,Place is gorgeous though, but food and service were the worst I have had in South Beach in 10 years.
We have been in this place two times and both experiences compare. Good food, terrible, terrible service. Waiters are cocky and rude. But that’s not the real issue. Both times they try to push food and overcharge when they could. Today like the time before, we order a virgin margarita and they charge us full price. The waiter asked us if we wanted sparkling water, we said yes and after the first bottle they kept bringing sparkling water without asking if we wanted more. It’s summer and we were thirsty, at the end we saw in our bill that each bottle of sparkling water cost 8 dollars and that add up to the bill considerably. We think this will be the last time we will come back to Porfirio’s.
I went to this restaurant on 7/25. I was very excited to have what I thought was going to be ‘authentic’ Mexican food. What a joke!! The food lack any flavor. I don’t eat meat/pork and mentioned this to our waiter several times. He assured me the beans DID NOT have pork in them. To my surprise, they sent out the wrong beans and it contained pork. i had the the grouper – it was flavorless and DRY!! When the chef heard of the mix up with the beans he was gracious enough to come to our table. He asked my opinion of the food and I had to be honest and told him I wasn’t impressed. I sent out his flan dessert, but that didn’t win me over either. They’ve only been open for 3 weeks so I’ll give them a try for second time to see if they’ve worked the kinks out. Go for the drinks, but not the food.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent service. Salsas, fresh handmade tortillas make tacos excellent. Yet some staple foods and drinks not authentic and WAY far off the real thing! Menu items missing. If they want to keep charging high prices they need to offer true to authentic Mexican food with good quality ingredients.. Or it will become a pricy Sr.Froggs. Take it from a native Mexican.
Omg!!! Amazing signature drinks and margaridas…the bartedenders are very attentive and nice…my new favourite place in sobe!
