Was a disappointing visit. I don’t have high expectations for friendly and courteous service when I visit Miami, but the poor service and unfriendly atmosphere at S&W in South Beach hit a new low. I don’t expect to visit again.We should have known to change place when we made reservations and we asked for an outside table and they said that even with reservations it was first come. The snobbish attitude of the place starts with the parked in the front… but that’s expected in SoBe. The parking attendant opened the door to the car but his mind was elsewhere because there was no welcome…When we went inside they didn’t lack personnel. The Maitre D’ and his assistant were somewhat formally courteous as you expect in a corporate office, but not a hospitality establishment. From there the quality of the service and friendliness went down the tubes.We had at least 3 people taking care of the table, but no one appeared to take ownership. A guy that had a grumpy face and attitude gave us the specials which were also the most expensive dishes. Once we didn’t bite he lost interest. From that point on it was down hill. BTW this is not a cheap place… you will spend $100/person and up in a simple meal.The food is adequate for the level of restaurant but not memorable. When I asked for my 10oz filet mignon for $48 I asked what sides come with it. The waiter with an attitude told me everything was a la carte. Most the night we had to calling the waiter and he could care less. I’ve been to many restaurants even in third world countries and this had the worst service in my opinion. I believe they tried to copy the snobbishness of Joe’s Stone-crabs across the street, but lost something in the translation. I would not spend my money there even if it’s just to be seen with SoBe power brokers. Never again!

The split pea soup was delicious, and the brioche rolls were some of the best I’ve ever had. My filet mignon was cooked a perfect medium rare, and it was so tender, the knife was completely unnecessary. The whipped mashed potatoes, steak sauce, and barnaise were awesome accompaniments. Finally, the chocolate mousse cake was deliciously rich, fluffy, and moist. Everything including the service and glass of reserve meritage was sublime. And with the $39 Miami Spice deal going on at the time, it was a steal. What a wonderful restaurant; I would definitely visit again at another location or the South Beach one when the weather is better so I can enjoy the view.
Another SoBe tourist trap. I can only go there for drinks or hosted events because I have given up on them. Even if someone invites me there I try to suggest alternatives.It’s just unbelievable how they can’t get food right, including steaks. Ask for 135 at rest and it’s at least 10 degrees off. My fav part is how they try to bring back the same steak. Re-fired steaks don’t work. And this isn’t Golden Corral.They have the sweet location and they know it. Most frustrating thing is their D.C. location is suburb, among best steakhouses I have ever dined at.
Smith Wollensky. Great place to go for a special occassion. The food quality was outstanding and the service was equally a good. Highly recommend.
Amazing Restaurant!. I keep going back to S & W. Not only the steaks are delicious, cooked to perfection, the sides are amazing. After trying their Truffle Mac’n Cheese, I could never have it any where else. We like to go to watch the sunset and sit outdoors. Service is great always!11 Jul, 2014Truffle Mac’n Cheese. Celebrated my don’s 17th birthday with 7 family members. The food was not what I expected, some of the cuts of meats that some of us chose were very fatty. Although some were good. The sides were good and of good portions for two. Parkings is valet and only $10.00. If you want outdoor seating make sure you tell the hostess or host as soon as you arrive as it will be a long wait. We waited about an hr until we asked to seat inside as our party was starving.
My frist time.. This was my first time visiting Smith & Wollensky steakhouse. I have visited many others but none can compare to Smith & Wollensky. The atmosphere and ambiance was wonderful. I will recommend this place to anyone looking for a good steak.
