Delicious Nigerian and Caribbean food. I had heard good things about this small restaurant for years. In Miami, African restaurants have come and gone, so I was glad to see that Sheri is still thriving. Sheri is a simple neighborhood restaurant that serves delicious food with flavor combinations I haven’t had elsewhere. Some dishes were spicy and others mild. The exotic names on the menu were meaningless to us, but we were invited to see and sample the food. The dishes we selected included a large, tasty piece of tilapia fish, several vegetable dishes, a great goat and tripe stew, and some spicy beef chunks. Other choices included a nice looking chicken stew. These were accompanied by various types of rice, rice and beans, or a potato cake that was eaten by hand, like a piece of bread. We also were served very nice crispy fried green plantains and a special potato, pepper and egg cake. The variety of drinks included Becks beer, which went nicely with the food. At the end of the meal we had some small cookies. The total bill before tax and tip came to less than $15/person, so I would put this at the low end of the $$ price category, and very high for value. The area is safe and convenient, since it is only a block or two south of Rte. 826 on 27th Av, one of the exits. The waitresses are friendly and attentive. Dining here will expand your experience of food and Miami in good ways.
