While everybody talks about the catfish, we have traveled and lived on the gulf coast and think the gumbo is the one of the best we have ever had. Nothing fancy for the place and service just adequate, but a great catfish house.
Nothing fancy but the food was fabulous. I had a shrimp appetizer with big fat shrimp and a cup of seafood gumbo that was wonderful. I ordered fried shrimp which were lightly fried with cheese grits and cole slaw. Another plus – they bring you an entire pitcher of tea 🙂
Favorite Catfish House. David’s is our favorite catfish restaurant. I am amazed when I see a negative review from anyone. The service is great and so is the food. I compare it to Mac’s On The River in Hattiesburg, MS as far as the quality and taste of the fried catfish. I enjoy having the option of the all you can eat, but the catfish plate with the large portions will satisfy most customers. This is a great place to eat.
We live to eat at David’s in Milton Fl. . We live in DeFuniak Springs Fl. So it’s about a hours drive to get there .The food is always so good and we bring many people to eat with us . The only thing I would change is that nasty little stuffed crab on your seafood platter . The platter is so good and that stuffed crab taste so bad . You gotta fix that it’s to good to put one bad thing on that plate . A good crab cake would even be an improvement or just leave it off and give more fish . It really taste bad .
Not Good. We went to Dave’s Catfish House for lunch and were very disappointed.The breading on the shrimp and catfish was thick, bland and almost tastelessThe fish itself was bland,and unseasoned.The hush puppies were also lacking in taste.We won’t be going back.Save your money and don’t go here.Compared to an award-winning fish camp in SC, this place is a loser.

Great Catfish Platter. My wife Helen likes whole catfish. There next to no places in the area that I can think of that you can get a whole catfish. Davids has a platter that is all you can eat. It comes out with 3 ready to go. They are big and you likely will not get past 3 of these. Comes with sides, etc and tea. The catfish is most excellent. If you have not tried this place, I would recommend it highly. Worth the drive from Pensacola to go out there.
