We have been to Key West several times. We have tried all of the Key Lime Pie in all of the Keys. Our favorite by far is The Blonde Giraffe. If you look up what makes a good Key Lime pie every site has a different answer.I hate to read reviews saying hands down. Most people don’t know what that means. So here is the meaning of hands down. The true source, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is horse racing. The earliest examples of the phrase come from 19th century sporting papers where horses win races hands down, meaning that victory is so secure that the jockey can relax and drop the reins before crossing the finish line.So as much as I truly hate that expression they are hands down the best Key Lime pie in all the Florida Keys!

Not allowed to use rest room until a purchase was made.Had chocolate coated key lime pie on a stick. I have had this many times before. At this place, the slices seemed small and we didn’t taste any lime, just the sweetened condensed milk. Sales person had an attitude.

Key Lime Pie isn’t as common as I thought it would be along the Keys. Sure, everybody does it, but only a few do it right. Blond Giraffe is one of those who do it right. The place itself is tiny and used to be all over Key West. Now, they have relegated to just one location in Islamorada (not even in Key West?). They use this as a home location and distribution where they are making Key Lime Pies by the dozen. It now resembles closer to a bakery than anything with lots of different options besides Key Lime Pies (even shakes).I ordered their original Key Lime Pie and thought it was great! The meringue isn’t nearly the size at Blue Heaven, but it doesn’t need to be. I enjoyed their meringue layer on top way more because it was thicker and creamier. The pie itself wasn’t nearly as good though. It was a bit more tart than sweet, but still overall decent. It’s in it’s only little sweet spot on the side of the road, so you might pass it if you’re not careful to look out for the giant giraffe. The people there are great and the place is clean. If you’re coming from Miami, you can make this a stop before making your way further west. If you’re coming back to Miami, you could also stop by and grab some pies for the family back. cheatdayeveryday.com

Very yummy pie!!! Got it without whipped cream or meringue. Pie on a stick was unique and tasty. Both are super rich and paired well was nice espresso.

Pie looks good, service was terrible. Main employee who was a women was very rude. Sold me a soda in a bottle and refused to open it for me, I had to have a guy waiting in line open it for me. I was trying to decide which kind of pie I wanted and she was huffing and puffing the entire time. On top of all that,I asked politely for her to put it in a bag of ice so it would stay cold until I got back to west palm and she refused to do it! The main reason I stopped was because I was told they would wrap it up for you so it doesn’t melt. Wrong. It wasn’t until a friend of mine bought a pie as well that she gave us ONE bag with some ice in it for both our pies. Won’t be back.
