Repeat event. Great grouper great tuna, improved salad bar, what’s not to like? Repeat visit, with great results. Oh, wait, you missed it? Then don’t go here, skip the tuna and the grouper! More for me!Yahoo!24 Dec, 2012Great grouper. Fresh grouper sandwich was great!Not the same as the Wharf, this family run shop is further west, near Murray’s Grocery. They’ve added beer and wine (limited selection), but the fish is the deal. Fresh selection changes, cod is the standard. Daily specials, including soup. Small salad bar,nice desserts.
I had the crab bisque, it was not seasoned, and on the sweet side. The fries tasted like it was cooked with the other seafood and left a funny taste to the mouth. My kids wanted the drinks to go. The waitress said the kids don’t fit right so my daughter, after I told her to stop, tipped it over and it went everywhere. The waitress was abrupt and tossed everything but for the first time in ALL my years…she never got her another drink! I did tip extra after the mishap but after the elder waitress acted I wish I’d taken it all back. Next time I am in the Keys… I would pass and eat elsewhere. I still have the funny taste in my mouth five hours later…yuck! Oh, apple sauce served warm is not good, my son kept saying yuck, and he lives apple sauce. My daughter took a bite and she commented it was warm.
Nice Maryland Style Seafood. This is a good small restaurant on the water with fresh Maryland style seafood. Had the crabcake sandwhich and panko shrimp. They had homemade salads, I had the Bacon Ranch potatoe. The food was excellent, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Not a dessert person, but the deserts looked amazing. I ordered the steamed Maryland bluecrabs to take home and really enjoyed them. Would go back again.
I ate at the Crab Shack.. This is a great family owned business. The first time my husband and I ate there, we ate the whole fried snapper and the seafood platter. Of course, it was so awesome that we shared everything!!!! The whole fried snapper was incredibly awesome. It was undoubtedly the very best I have ever had in the Keys and believe me, I have eaten fish at most restaurants in the Florida Keys. This was the best by far? The second time, we had panko encrusted grouper sandwiches and maryland crab. Both were very good although not as awesome as the snapper. The crab cakes on the seafood platter were awesome also. Made with Maryland crab, you can buy those separately as an appetizer or as a sandwich/entree. Don’t forget to try out this fine little restaurant. It is operated by a grandmother who really knows how to cook and makes fine desserts. Her helpers are her children and grandchildren.
Best grilled grouper on lower Keys. What more can I say. The price was higher than indicated here — I think over $20, but well worth it.
Poor service and attitude. Arrived to get take out 11:30 AM 2 weeks ago; no cars in lot. Surly elderly woman at counter first told us to move car or would not serve us unless we were getting take out. Then when we said we would just take out she turned her back to us and said she would not serve us unless we parked car on the side. NO CARs were in the lot and it was well before their busy time. We left without getting order as we were afraid of what our sandwiches would be like with such a hostile attitude.
