Came here many years ago and it looks the same. Thought we remembered that they had beer and Margaritas. Yep, in a separate building behind the main restaurantCame in for a late lunch at 2:30p and were the only people in the restaurant. Bar was busy on this Friday the 13thOrdered the lobster Ruben sandwich. Probably the most unique sandwich in the Keys. Fried in Pablo fresh lobster tail Norte bread with Cole slaw and Swiss cheese. Very good and so rich that splitting it was a good idea. Read about some having poor service. We were there off hours and had no problems. Our server was friendly fast an attentive. I suspect when it gets busy in season and later in the day that it could be very busy. Suggest that you plan to chill at Mangrove Mamas chilltravelers.com
Very laid back, slow paced restaurant. Had the snapper platter grilled with slaw and potato salad. Food tastes good. Outdoor bar with patio seating.
I had the fish tacos and they were ok, I didn’t care for the dressed coleslaw on my tacos. Not much flavor for a Baja sauce. The ambience was nice and it had good local feel.
The Service was very fast and the food is very good.
This is a great spot for breakfast. The food was excellent and Amanda, who looked after us was fun and very efficient and extremely helpful with ideas regarding places to visit. We set off early from MM 90 to go to Key West and were really glad we waited until we got to Mangrove Mamas to have breakfast. When we drove past this evening on our way back the car park was full so the evening menu is obviously good too. Full marks to Amanda and the Chef .
Naver Again. Nasty.. I don’t know what’s worse about Mangrove Mama’s….the filthy dining room, skimpy portions, inflated prices, rude service, or the manager (Dane) with the nasty, nasty attitude. I’m trying really hard to find anything to say about my visit and I just can’t come up with anything. In fact, I don’t know how, with today’s health laws, this place is able to stay open. Never again will I visit this dump.
Severely over priced and not good food. Stay away if possible.
