On the way to key west, do stop here (big pine key. Thank me later)While making the itinerary, I read somewhere about it and almost forgot. While passing big line key, we saw no name key signboard and rem this place and went thereNow this pub has an address and it is famous. 10-15 yrs back, you have to struggle to find it.The place is literally at a deserted location. As its menu, the main page saying, lousy service, making it perfect. The whole place is covered in $1 bills.Todd was our server and he was very friendly. He helped us with the menu.We ordered Caribbean chicken pizza-tuna sandwich-conch fritters-draft beerConch fritters were way good as well pizza. The tuna sandwich was ok. I bought one souvenir glassHistory of dollar bills- in the late 70s, one server had a crush on peer server and he was leaving dollar bill expressing his love on it always. Since then its tradition out there.
Great pizza for a bar. We are their last year and could not wait to return and eat there again this year and we’re not disappointed. One hint, if you plan to eat there for lunch, arrive early. It gets very crowded after 12PM.
What a cool spot. Food is solid but everything together is why I give it the 4.0. First this place is not around a ton of tourists and clowns, it was off the path. That path included the endangered key deer who are all over this road so watch out for them but don’t feed them or pet them (illegal and can get them killed). The pizza here was good (not $26 good but good). The calzone was ok. The fries I really liked, the kind they peel themselves like circles and flavored well. The service is friendly but slow. The upper part of this place was a brothel at one time so that’s interesting, as well as the rest of its history. You are going to pay a lot too but it’s a very cool spot, I’d highly recommend at least once. They say there is $300,000 stapled to the walls here.
Best waitress I have had all year. I went during one of their busiest weeks of the year and their service was fast and their food was delicious. The pizza is a must. The vegetarian was my personal favorite!
Great fun getting there
Not that hard to find! Small dim stereotypical barroom covered in dollar bills. But one of those must stop places if you are staying in the keys.Pizza is good, as long as you like thinner band tossed crust (not my favorite). Seafood is average considering the location in the heart of the Florida keys, but good nonetheless. One annoyance is there are no free beverage refills unless you get in the $10 souvenir glass. Years ago the deal was a $4 souvenir glass to get free refills which seemed like a good deal, $10 not so much.
Key lime pie. Excellent24 Nov, 2014Sweet. This is a bar of bars. In the middle of nowhere and that’s what makes it. Great food and dining outside too. Key lime pie that’s the real deal. You will never see so many dollar bills on the walls and ceiling. Just a really cool place. Super tall bar and super tall stools. Highly recommend if not just for a beer and to say you’ve been there.
