Wow!!!! This is exactly what Tampa needed! My husband and I both got the brisket and the sausage with jalapeos and cheese, a side of fries and corn bread. The brisket was tender and delicious and the sausage was a flavor explosion in your mouth! We happened to be there at noon and they play the national anthem every day at noon. The entire restaurant stood up, removed their hats and placed their hands over their hearts for the national anthem. Everyone cheered & shouted at the end. It was a really great experience. The wait staff was very attentive and kept coming by offering drink refills or anything that we needed. Love the theme of the restaurant as it honors all of our military and armed forces including police, firemen and Coast Guard. We ate at the new restaurant by USF on Bruce B Downs and Fletcher. It was bustling. We will definitely be back!
This is easily the best BBQ in Tampa and some of the best I’ve had. The brisket is killer, the chicken is juicy, and the Black Plate Special is always worth checking out. None of it needs sauce but they give you lots of options from a vinegar base to a white Alabama style. I’ve been to about a dozen BBQ joints but this is my go to.
I had the brisket it was very dry and very salty also the pulled pork is real salty I lived in Dallas Texas it didn’t taste like that.The place was clean but when came to my order I could not here the lady when she called my name.The coleslaw had no taste.Maybe other people prefer salty food but not me a little is ok.Plus I didn’t receive my potato salad that’s ok.And it was too busy to try to go up there and get a refund or get my side so we just left.And went to eat somewhere else.Please make your own opinions restaurants is hard work.
Outstanding brisket which is moist and flavorful. Ribs are nicely seasoned and fall off the bone. Turkey breast is surprisingly moist. Pulled pork and chicken are both tasty.
Their pulled pork and brisket are very good. The meats are seasoned very well. I love the 6 different BBQ sauce options, and their seasonal peach cobbler is perfection!
Bark, bark. Did my first visit to this Texas style BBQ joint for lunch today. Being a fan of Texas BBQ it was a foregone conclusion that I would try the brisket. When I ordered I was pleased that I was asked whether I wanted lean or moist, I chose lean (that is from the thinner, flat side of the brisket). I was called to pick up my order before I had even finished filling my drink cup which was nice, but it was early, only about 11:15 AM. I was informed about the 6 different BBQ sauces available on each table and proceeded to find one and dig into the brisket, one sparerib bone and side of beans. This is where the title comes into play and it is not canine related at all. My brisket slices had come from the thin, end of the flat side and the bark was thick and present on every slice. The rub was excellent, well seasoned without being overpowering and the meat was just a touch dry but that is being super nitpicky. It was good enough I ate the majority of it without sauce. The rib and beans were good also, no complaints. It is a welcome addition to the BBQ joints in the area and I am happy it is here!
