Spouse and I enjoyed a very SCRUMPTIOUS New Orleans inspired dinner at TACE Lounge. We started off with TACE’s house made Sangria (w white wine). The beverage was very good, exceptional even. Spouse ordered Shrimp and Grits w fried green tomatoes while I had the Jambalaya. We shared each other’s dishes, and both of us deemed everything SPECTACULAR! The best NOLA cuisine we’ve had in Tampa Bay. The portions were generous, the shrimp, andouille, chicken, and vegetables were cooked perfectly and exquisitely seasoned. For dessert, we shared the TACE bread pudding and the beignets, both of which were excellent. Petal, our hostess and server, was very gracious and friendly and we even the chef stopped by our table, so we were able to compliment him on his cuisine. There were no leftovers—everything was too delicious! Looking forward to a return visit to try TACE’s gumbo, etouffe, and red beans w rice.
Super great place!. This place was awesome! The food was great, and the service was great! The biscuit and gravy was so good, and the chicken and waffles were amazing! We will most definitely being going back and can’t wait to go for dinner! Definitely a good place to try!!
A Taste of NOLA Closer to Home!. Stopped in for lunch one day and it was practically empty. But it was a good way to talk to our server and find out a little more about the place, the concept, and the owners. The decor in the daylight looked thrown together and slightly garish, but I am sure during the jazz weekend dinners, it tones down and looks more in place. The food, though, is a solid attempt at creating a new twist on traditional New orleans classics. The seafood beignet appetizer was crispy on the outside and soft and doughy on the inside, not very heavy on the chunks of seafood inside. But the remoulade sauce that accompanied it was delish! The seafood gumbo was very flavorful, although don’t expect a very hearty stew filled with meat – it was kind of lacking in that respect. Standouts were the catfish po’boy and the extra cheesy and creamy mac n cheese. All in all, a nice spot that serves a unique style of food – and should be very welcomed in the Tampa Bay area, seeing how there is a definite need in the Carrolwood area for more interesting styles of cuisine!
