The service is horrible, the wine they served me was severely over done (sat out for too long), and the food is mediocre at best. I came to check it out because of the raving reviews but I doubt the validity of the sources now.
Best Cajun. I have had so much the the menu here it’s a little crazy..I ordered the half order of the shrimp poboy last night… which is 6 inches instead of 12 of the full size, the half order is still 10.50 and completely worth it! And they do actually 12 inches, unlike Subway that the footlong isn’t really a foot. They use large pieces of shrimp and every bite I had a shrimp in it so its not like they are cheaping out on how much they use. The bread was AMAZING! It is actually from New Orleans and used at almost every place in the city…. if you want TRADITIONAL Cajun food, well then everything is gonna have to be shipped in from there and that isn’t cheap. I believe even at 10.50 for a half order the price was completely fair. If you want nontraditional Cajun food then this is not the place for you. I personally have no trouble paying the prices for the amazing food. The ettoufee and bbq shrimp are wonderful as well. And the chef has features every weekend that are wonderful, if you like crab cakes, this place is a MUST. But call ahead as its only a weekend feature but well worth the wait. I actually took one of my so called Vegetarian friends there and she ordered the Crab Cakes and LOVED them. She is no longer a vegetarian. Everything is amazing, I even like their char-grilled oysters when I can’t stand the raw. If you know REAL cajun food and poboys… you will not be disappointed at all!!!!!
Great Po Boy. My mom and I visited the Tampa Tap Room last weekend after I had heard about it on the radio. We’ve been looking for some good back-home Louisiana food in Tampa. We may have finally found our place. We both ordered the shrimp po boy with a cup of gumbo. The shrimp po boy was amazing, and the shrimp tasted so fresh and like they just came out the bayou. (Not the frozen shrimp crap you get at most places here in TB). The gumbo honestly left a little to be desired. But only because I don’t like a dark, thick roux. Have to give them props though, that even that tasted authentic. Will definitely be back to this spot!! And one last thing, they even have a roast beef po boy on their menu, first time I’ve ever seen that in Tampa!!
My husband and I love good food especially wings and burgers and of course good drinks. Well Tampa Tap Room is a great place for that and more. We listened to some great music and watched some sports too. The staff was very good also. The Owner even came over for a chat which is very important. We found a new place to go. Can’t wait to try more of the menu.
Best Late Night Burgers in Tampa. Not being a barfly, there aren’t many places to choose from in NorthTampa that I would go to be served late night on the weekend. Nestled at the far back of an outdoor shopping center, not only was I surprised by the bar itself, but the presentation, taste, & service (not to mention satisfaction) went far beyond what I would have expected @ 1am! The burger I ordered was clearly of very high quality — you could taste FRESH & LEAN screaming — it was the best I can remember ever having, so much so that I have been back half a dozen times! I highly recommend checking out the Tampa Tap Room. If you do, you’ll probably make it a point of going back. Even if you’re from Brandon.
What a dump. Crappy bar, lousy service, zero ambiance. It looks and smells like a musty basement. It was quite apparent that the only people in the joint were regulars who feel it is their civic duty to keep that crap factory afloat. Will never go back.
Visited twice in one week. Weekend and weeknight. We went back because the food was so good. Home style New Orleans food. Horrible service though, both times. The owner overcame this at the first visit; no such luck the second. Server didn’t know they sold wine by the glass one night: we waited for beers until well after our food was served the next.
