I’ve been coming here since they first opened over 20 years ago. For the most part it’s been a solid place for Mexican food and cheap drinks. Try the Burrito San Jose. Better yet, take on El Molcajete, a.k.a. The Black Bowl.

Festive but too slow. It was very busy, large families celebrating Mothers Day or just out for a good meal. After a wait we got in and were led to a room of bright colors and wall murals. It was great. There was an exceptional Mariachi Band playing at each table and really livening things up. Kids running around, everyone having a good time.Regarding the food, they have a large menu. I selected their Burrito Bandara and picked steak as the meat, the burrito colorfully presented with red, white and green sauce over three sections of the burrito. For what it was it was very good, but there wasnt much more than the steak, wrapping, and sauces. Our big complaint was the slowness of the service. It may have been an exceptionally busy day, our server stopping by a couple of times to apologize for the food taking so long. It ended up taking 40 minutes, good thing their drink cups were huge. But my patient understanding took a dive when as we were almost finished with our food our server offered to refill our drinks and disappeared with our cups for a seriously long time, long enough for us all to finish eating and wait for his return. When the cups returned, we asked for our bill. Once that arrived we pulled out our credit card and our server took off again with card and bill in hand, again for a seriously long time. I had noticed we could have just paid by the front door as we were leaving, and here we were waiting again for our server. This was not good, our festive mood slipping away as too much time passed.

No sir, I didn’t like it.. Place is a dump. Food actually was okay, but I couldn’t get over the carpet on the floor. I can’t eat over carpet. It’s gross, and it was. The location in Lutz on SR 54 is a better location but the food was no big whoop. I need to find a new mexican place. If anyone has any recommendations, I am open!

—. To be honest, the food was definitely not that good when we came. We had the buffet and the food was cold and slopped all over the place… No spices… Wont be back.

Pretty good. Got the buffet. Simple but delicious. I really liked the salsa and white cheese sauce.

Good Food – Service is iffy. I live in Northdale, so this is our main Mexican Food restaurant. We return here anytime we want Mexican food, so I like to think it is pretty decent. We’re a married couple with 3 kids in elementary school. They of course like the chips and salsa that come to your table. Sometimes the chips are warm, sometimes they are not… they have never been stale. Their salsa is mild…really mild, but you can ask for hot.I like their Chimichanga….. it’s lightly fried, large and has lots of additional stuff on top. Their rice and beans are good. They are the only ones that my kids will eat. Their taco’s and burritos are also good. I am not a fan of their Tamale’s, they have been pretty dry and bland the last two times I have had them. Also not a fan of their enchiladas. Everything else has been good, including their Fajitas. The servers can be hit or miss, most often the food comes out really fast, but yo may have to wave down someone for a refill on your drink. They’re always friendly and quick on refilling your drink if you have to do this. Some night they have a mariachi band… not sure which ones.. but they are pretty good and it is entertaining. In summary – if you live close to this place or will be in the neighborhood, I say give it a shot. You’ll likely enjoy the food. The murals and unique chairs are beautiful. If you live a ways from this place and are looking for Mexican worth driving to… probably not your place. There are likely better Mexican food to be had in the Bay area. But for being close to my home… this will continue to be our family’s Mexican restaurant that we frequent.
