Extraordinary. We recently had Sunday lunch at Bleu Provence and were astounded by the experience. Few restaurants manage the big 3 (Food + Service + Atmosphere) and Bleu Provence has it down. Our server was charming, attentive without being overbearing, and obviously a well-trained professional. When we had questions, he either had the answers or found them out very quickly.I am going to be dreaming about this food until we go back for more. I asked the server about the incredible French baguette bread that came as a starter – the crust was crisp without being tough, and the inner part was soft. It is baked fresh every morning at 4. We started with the Butternut Squash soup – it was flawless, smooth, and with a fragrance like fresh peas out of the garden (garnished with sprouts). We had a baked gratin baguette – the best cheese either of us had ever had, gently broiled over a fresh baguette with herbs de Provence and roasted tomatoes. Stunning. The creme brulee and coffee were a perfect finish to the meal – and the creme brulee was unstoppable – a nice crackly crust and a trio of fresh raspberries on top.The decor is charming – blue and white with an airy cottage feel. We will definitely be back.
Amazing experience- fantastic service- very Eurpoean- Sommelier made a terrific recommendation, even for my schizophrenic palate. Steak tartare and sweetbreads were well seasoned- dare I say better than the steak tartare I had in Paris? The real star of the show though- the pomme frites! Best I ever had! All in all worth the trek from Marco Island for an evening out.
Outstanding in every respect. We had the same waitress that we had the year before, her name is Cher – she was terrific. The food always outstanding and the atmosphere relaxed and beautiful
Absolutely charming restaurant with phenomenal food. It’s hidden away from the chaos of 3rd and 5th but it is an absolute Naples gem. The service was also exceptional. Will be returning.
Even the locals say it’s hit or miss…… Stay away if you want a great dining experience. They have inexperienced kids running this establishment with zero leadership. I had to call 3 times to finally get a reservation as the reservationist was unprofessional and probably too busy to pay attention. When we arrived it took us 10 minutes at the front desk to even be recognized. We finally got a table and wasn’t even offered a glass of water . After 15 minutes we approached the hostess and she was too busy as she was text messaging while on duty. We decided wen were going to leave and I asked to speak with the person in charge…the owner Jacques wasn’t there but his arrogant inexperienced son who is trying to emerge from Daddy’ shadow told me he was too busy and he was sorry. He proceeded to open the door to show me out. Great customer service skills but he will regret treating his customers like this. Many many locals have said this place has gone done hill over the years and now I see why. Never will I give this establishment that is falling hard a cent of my money nor shield you……it’s a shame but there are many restaurants in Naples that are worthy.
Don’t be mislead by wine list. An extraordinary wine list of 1600 bottles could mislead a diner into believing the food warrants such a reservoir, it does NOT. A European experienced gourmet would be attracted by such a list but the food has to match such a superlative offering and it massively fails. Only a 3 * Michelin could warrant such an offering and this is at best merely the standard of a Michelin ‘recommended’ restaurant. I respectfully recommend our American cousins who are tempted to visit this restaurant to read just what a Michelin recommended restaurant is. This restaurant is about the best one finds in Naples; the rest are very ordinary to a European trained palate no matter what they look like. Bear this in mind when choosing wines, the cheapest match the food adequately anywhere.Bleu Provence food is good. Service and ambience are excellent, but the wines are well overpriced and the list unnecessarily long. What’s needed is a shorter budget priced good wine list to match the good quality of the food, possibly with a maximum price of $60, at this price there are hundreds of excellent wines to be found across the world. Paying the excessively high prices for wines from the massive tome of the wine list is a waste of money. I don’t know what the focus of this restaurant is, for a wine bar the wine list is too complex. For an ordinary restaurant excessive and unnecessary. Worth a visit but stay away from the wines!Go if you are a wine buff, then I suggest you only order wine and bread and enjoy it and don’t waste time on the food for you won’t find a happy marriage there.
Tarte tatin with lavender ice cream. Perfect end to a great meal. perfect combination of flavors and the cool ice cream on the warm carmelized apples – YUM22 Dec, 2010The friend goat cheese on the mesculin salad. Fantastic, warm and cool, with watermelon chunks in the salad, perfect.22 Dec, 2010Everything was beautiful. The place was beautiful, the service was beautiful, the atmosphere was beautiful, the one red and white rose on our table was beautiful. The food was beautifully delicious. We went on our last night in Naples. We had eaten at several expensive and terribly disappointing restaurants where it seems little thought was put into the food. This meal was everything I would have expected and made me feel good about spending every penny. Plus the staff, from the waiter to the man who took away our plates was outstanding, understated, friendly. I would come back here every time im in the area.
