We went there for dinner at 5:30. I cant say much for the atmosphere inside or out but sometimes places like this can be a hidden gem. I initially ordered a pork souvlaki dinner but was told they were out. Strike one. I changed my order to a gyro pita ($8.95). The gyro meat was cut thicker then I am used to but the sandwich was ok. The avgolemeno soup ($3.90 cup) was ok. The baklava ($4) was a bit stale. All in all, we left full but there was nothing to compel us to come back. No gem found here.
The Greek gourmet used to be on US 41. The food was OK. I met a friend for lunch at their new location on Airport Pulling Road and I worry for the future of their business. I ordered a falafel pita with a side of lemon soup. The soup came first and was salty but flavorful. The pita came next and tasted rotten. My friend had a hair in the middle of her plate, but we know food service; hair happens. The waitress took enough time to check on our table that my friend had finished eating after removing the hairy cucumber. I told the waitress that the flavor was very strong and inedible. She told me that I must not like the tahini. Now, I’ve been cooking for years and hummus is one of my favorite foods. I love tahini and use it often. I politely told her so and she offered a replacement. The rotten flavor was not present but the product was not something I would return to buy.The waitress was sweet but inattentive, the dining room was an empty sea of black tables, and the food was terrible. The paintings on the wall were lovely but poorly arranged. If you read this, Greek Gormet, use it to better your guests experience. I will not come back.
