I recently discovered Andy Susie’s Too & AJ Ice Cream formerly known as Susie’s too has relocated to the Shoppes of Hammock Cove Plaza near the intersection of Rattle Snake Hammock and US 41 and have expanded their horizons with a great new space and the new addition of the ice cream shop. I’m a Central Naples seasonal snob of sort, in that I don’t get too far away from my bubble during season – unless it’s on the venture for new food locations. Having had frequented the previous location a few years back, I had some familiarity and wasn’t totally rolling the dice. When I first walked in, I saw a line up of people which could be a good thing or a bad thing. But in this case, it was all good – especially the first impressions from all the wait staff that I encountered in my first 10 minutes of arriving. The wait was very minimal due to the fact that the floor manager/hostess was directing traffic and making sure all of the sat tables were tended to and making adjustments to the staff in recognizing the places that needed attention. As busy of a place it was, the service was on point; in that they kept focused on their tables and delivered prompt friendly service in all aspects of my exchanges. The girl who came to the table and put down our place settings made sure when my wife accidentally dropped her roll up that she replaced it with a new one. It was all of these little first impressions that left me very satisfied in choosing Andy Susie’s Too & AJ Ice Cream as my Sunday brunch location.Being it was my first time in, I sought out something from the menu with biscuits, sausage, and gravy and I found the Country Benedict included all those ingredients with a poached egg on top, so it immediately went to the top of my list. All hearty ingredients when paired together, definitely made for a great breakfast. The menu had an array of menu items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so I am sure it has something for everybody. I also sought out something sweet to share with my sweet in that we chose the stuffed french toast topped with strawberries. Food was delivered in a very timely manner by the food runner and she made sure all the tables’ needs were met before dismissing the table. Again, it was all the little service things that I really took notice with the wait staff and really do appreciate the attention to the little details in their service. All the food was hot and made to order. The biscuits are how I like them in that they are a bit more of a cake-like biscuit that crumbles, and I totally love that aspect when paired with my sausage gravy and poached egg. The stuffed french toast, once I got to it after devouring my breakfast, was just right in that the strawberry sauce absorbed nicely and made a tasty after breakfast treat and finished me off for the meal. Next time I will take advantage of the full service Ice Cream Bar which wasn’t getting too much attention, but it was still before noon. Nonetheless, I will try it at some point.I got a moment to speak with the owner Andy about the meal and service. I really appreciated him taking the time from the kitchen to do so, as he is the head chef of the place. I ensured him that I would be back and that his place has definitely become a top contender on my Sunday brunch list. I love seeing small businesses grow. Based on the previous location, this place definitely made a move in the right direction, as many new up and coming communities are being built up in this area and the location couldn’t be any better. This location has great potential and is supported with the already 20 years success that Andy has running his other restaurants. I am assured that it will continue to be a huge success. This placehas definitely earned best first impressions from me in 2015. misterswfl.com
