(9/22/2018) Wanted to take mom and dad out for lunch, they always like a good Chinese buffet, especially if the price is right, they figure there’s something for everyone. The pickings are slim in NSB for actual Chinese food, if that’s what you’re looking for, go to Orlando. Chinese people making food they think Americans think is Chinese food is what’s on this buffet, and it hits all of your well-known tropes: Beef and Broccoli, Krab Rangoon (with plenty of cream cheese), Coconut Chicken (very sweet with condensed milk), General Tso’s (sticky, sweet, savory), Chicken Teriyaki (really people, this is descended from the Japanese), Chicken Satay (this one is from Thai, large, well-marinated, tender pieces of chicken breast)), and Buffalo Wings (uh, Buffalo?). The Dim Sum of the day was Pork and Shrimp Shu Mai, which was very loose and a little tangy for my tastes, but large. Hot and Sour Soup was decent, mildly hot, and mildly sour, but chock full of fresh (not canned) mushrooms, julienned bamboo shoots, and tofu. I do love those flash-fried green beans, it’s just something you can’t do at home unless you’ve got an industrial size wok and a 25,000 BTU burner. Egg Foo Yung had fresh vegetables and was pretty tender, but rather bland. I had skipped the gravy, but perhaps that’s where the salt went. Spring Rolls were veggie filled and savory, if skimpy on the filling. There’s those Sugar Biscuits that you know you love, and that we all know is really a Pillsbury biscuit deep-fried and rolled in sparkling granulated sugar. Ah, childhood memories. We skipped the cold salad section, really, if you’re going to get your eat on, why waste it on iceberg lettuce, it looked bright and crisp, though. Sushi Bar was a little on the waning side when we walked in, but as refreshed while we were there. Mom, surprisingly, who doesn’t really like sushi, was in the Krab and Cream Cheese Roll. Dad’s def into sushi and enjoys heaping spoons of wasabi, which he eats while he powers through the sinus burn that goes straight to your brain. The hot foods were replenished frequently when we were there at noon on a Saturday, and quite hot. The people were very nice and took our drink orders, which were also frequently refilled. Here’s a tip, be nice to people and they’ll be nice back, servers aren’t your slaves.I’ve had way worse food in this town in places that cater strictly to tourists (looking at you Manny’s Pizza Beachside and Mi Mexico). This is in the west part where locals do their shopping. We saw many regulars pop in for lunch to get their faves off the buffet. I’m not saying it’s authentic, or the best evah, but it’s inexpensive and decent, and really, I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll like there, try a Sugar Biscuit.

It’s alright.. After a few hours at the beach with family we were very hungry and wanted more than just fast food. Pulled over to eat here. It’s not the best buffet but it does its job. Could be a lot better if the restaurant staff seemed a little friendlier and the lighting inside was improved. Very dark. Food quality was about a 6/10. If you can’t wait any longer to eat elsewhere then this isn’t bad.

This place isn’t that bad for a strip mall Chinese buffet… The food was hot and the service was alright.
