Love this Place !. Great place food is great as well as the servers .Save your money eat here it is better then the high price places that are all over .
Precious! Try the waffles. Breakfast all day wins me over every time. This diner/drive in is owned by a Greek so you know it must be good! We sat at the tables outside and the waitress (sweeter than my strawberry waffle) brings our food on a huge tray, but it was all in to go boxes. That’s my only complaint. I HATE STYROFOAM!
Living Proof That Even Something So Simple Can Go So Wrong.. I really would love to be able to write a positive review sorry this aint it. A close friend recommended this place to us I will never be rude enough to ask her to explain or define her expectations or standards. Odd thing she is one of our favorite servers at a place we go to more to see her than for the food though it is far better than this place.Lets start with the very simple appetizer we ordered fried mushrooms can not complain about temperature or texture my complaint is I always thought you where supposed to be given at least a small plate to eat off of I am well aware this is not to far beyond a greasy spoon yet I would hope to think one should expect that much.On to my wifes main course first explain to me some learned person why is it so hard to find a good burger or real Sausage gravy? Sorry back to my wifes choice one of her favorite comfort foods a Patty Melt simple you would think their presentation consisted of a leathery over cooked thin steak this is not how it is worded in the menu. Also onions are supposed to be lightly sauted maintaining there original color not caramelized they loose there flavor and look disgusting when taken to that point a reminder presentation proper plating can make even an average meal taste better.Now lets get to mine I adore liver and onions would have to say I take half blame for this as I chose to ignore that little voice that tried in vain to warn me. Please indulge me a moment and say you never cook beef liver on a grill top you never cook liver in any way unless you have soaked it in milk overnight this not only tenderizes the liver it removes at a minimum half of the strong flavor. The liver should be at a minimum one half inch thick. I so miss the old school way slow simmered in gravy onions and bacon drippings oh my gosh food gasims. This was thin a combination of rubber and leather onions cooked fully into a gelatinous caramelized mass yuck and more yuck. I will say the highlights where the mashed potatoes and fried Okra,Now lets talk about desert which is included with a full entire. The freebie is a touted homemade pudding I chose my wifes favorite Butterscotch. How the heck can one mess-up pudding there was only a butter flavor nothing I could even begin to say Butterscotch. As neither of us was in a complaining mood we picked up pizza on the way home. Sad I miss the old time dinners. I did see a Irish pub near Jacksonville on Dinners Drive In and dives we will have to check that out.
Great service but the food is average. I’ve been here many times over the last few years. Super fast service. This is where all the old nsb regulars go to get cheap, fast, average food. That’s it, dont try it unless youre really hungry.
Cheap food, fast and friendly service.. Pappas Restaurant is a great family restaurant. It has all the great qualities i look for in a restaurant such as, the price, fast and friendly service, clean atmosphere, and the taste and quality of the food The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. I find the service at Pappas to be very friendly and quick but as for the atmosphere, I find it to be well kept although, I do not like the way the silverware is laid out on a napkin and the dirty dishes kept in the diners view. As for the food at Pappas it’s always hot and fresh, I never once have gotten my order mixed or messed up. Overall, Pappas restaurant is a great place to dine with your family or co-workers for there cheap prices, friendly service and mostly clean atmosphere. I personally recommend this restaurant for anyone and everyone who wants a cheap but filling meal.
