(3/24/2018) Came for dinner on a Saturday night when the weather was fine. I had done some reading, so knew to expect a long, long, long wait. We pre-noshed at a Mexican restaurant before heading over. Got there at 8-ish and waited for about 2 hours (accurately estimated and conveyed to us). Entertained ourselves people watching at the valet station (yeah, people on vacation feel free to let loose). It’s kind of not really a great place for kids, not that there weren’t some there, but really it’s adults gone wild in a privileged kind of way, and the areas are adult focused, like the large, outdoor smoking patio, and multiple locations where you can get boozy. Aside from a little hiccup in the texting system (they said they gave away our table since we didn’t respond in 10 minutes, documented on phone was the message at 9:47 and we were standing in front of them at 9:51). Make sure you keep an eye on the wait list, the girls may not have it all together. I did see another man having a mildly heated discussion because they couldn’t find him on the list after he had already waited an hour. Once you get in though, the decor is eclectic, jumbled, cave-like, almost dream-like, like Peter Pan meets Little Italy. Would love to see a floorplan, place is larger on the inside than it looks. Crowd noise was deafening, it was very full, full of drunken celebrations and a lot of woohoos. Menu is basic American Italian and pricey for some decent quality. Everything we had was suitably tasty. Best of the night was the fresh-baked, long loaves of Italian bread and mellow, tender, roasted garlic bulbs. Sauces are definitely heavy-handed with the garlic (duh, hence the name), which is chopped rather than pressed. Dishes were executed well, met expectations. Oddly, a Chilean sea bass special of the day was battered and deep-fried. The fish was beautifully cooked, but seems like a waste of a lovely (and expensive) fish fillet, that wine/butter/garlic on the huge tender chunk would have been heavenly. Desserts, Chocolate Pretzel Brownie (very gooey and underdone in the middle, if you like that sort of thing) and Cannoli, were over the top sweet and designed to please most sugar junkies. I expect this to be one of the better restaurants in NSB, and it’s enjoyable, but big fish little pond.
This place sucks….period. They told us 45 minutes for a table and we at 1 hour and 15 minutes. The food is okay but not worth the wait. There are plenty of other options in the area. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!
