Good comfort food. Vacationing in Destin and stopped in. With a group of 4, every plate was good. The chicken livers were hot and breaded just right, and the meat was not dried out. We had fried green tomatoes and onion rings, served hot and not greasy. I had a salad with fried chicken, country fried streak, and shrimp, all good. Lettuce was fresh and crisp. Lots of dissecting choose from. Unfortunately, no room for dessert. The place has some age on it but pretty clean and our server was very friendly and knew how to keep up with all her tables. Would go back. Prices were very reasonable and there is a lunch menu.

We have dined several times at Po Folks and have always enjoyed the food and service, but today’s experience was the best that we have ever had there and is probably in our top five dining experiences ever. The food was excellent as usually. They cook some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. What set this visit apart was our waitress, Kelsey. She was friendly, timely with her service, but not overbearing. We never had to wait once, for anything…she was great. There was another server that had a couple tables right next to ours, Katey i believe, and we observed her offer just the same high caliber of service…amazing. We even had the cook staff come out and ask if we wanted our Son’s kids meal to come out early since it was ready about five minutes before ours were. This was amazing service and I highly recommend this restaurant and the STAFF to anyone who wants a good, inexpensive meal!
We used to have one in new Orleans,la but I closed loong ago.I was so happy I found one when we were in Florida,of course we had to try it.I was so expecting it to be a run down sad version of its old self.it was absolutely delicious and cheap.the service was great.the only thing missing was the checker boards.I am going to Pensacola and we are driving an hour out if our way,so we can eat po folks.
Our server made the difference!. I don’t often get a chance to eat lunch with my son, but today he had an appointment that took us to Niceville and he missed lunch at school. He has always liked Po Folks … I’m not sure if it was the Sweet Tea or the hot young server … but he was in teen-age boy heaven today!Our server was all sugar and spice and made our meal a joy. My son could not take his eyes off her … and loved her attentive concern about our lunch and drinks. I had the 4 veggie special, with a side of chicken livers and the moon-eyed boy had chicken fried steak. My meal of red beans and rice, blackeyed peas, corn, and mac and cheese was solid and filling. Our sever remembered to rustle up a dish of gravy for my chicken livers … yum, shades of Nan’s home cooking. My meal, complete with a biscuit, was good enough to bring back warm memories of the best of the South.We had a great luch together … Thanks!

Food was O.K.. Good fried chicken. Sides weren’t so great…tasted like most of them came out of a can. Biscuits were good as well.
Mostly fried food, okay for occasional dining. Informal atmosphere.
