Best Italian restaurant we’ve ever eaten in. Cozy place better have reservations. Parking is always crowded. A little hard to find but well worth it.
From a true italian.. I have had homemade Italia food all my life, my mother is a fine chef, but she lives away from the area. This is the cloest to her food as you can get to homemade. Im mad though, I lived here for 15 years before I found it…. Great food, Great people. Kind Regards, Dino Vitale .
One of the top five restaurants in the area. I went to Tradewinds tonight for probably the 50th time. It’s still as great as ever. My wife and I split the crab cake appetizer and then she had the pork chop special and I had the veal parmigiana. The crab cakes were light, fluffy, and delicious-better than any I have had in Maryland. I still have not tasted better pork chops than these by a long shot. The veal parm is always great, but for some reason tonight just a little better. I’ve tried almost every restaurant in the panhandle that’s worth checking out and this place is still a gem, long after the tragic loss of Tom. Outstanding food, great service in a bit of a funky atmosphere set it apart. A fun place to eat. Don’t forget to check out the picture of Tom in the lady’s room. 4/4 stars.
Make a Reservation!. First time eating at Tradewinds…we showed 10 minutes before opening on a Friday evening thinking we would be early and get a good seat. Well, we didnt make a reservation and low and behold, they were already booked with reservations. Instead of turning us away, Tom and his crew made a place for us and it was great. Food was as good as expected. Our server Shari was awesome and very kind. We had the caprese, as an appetizer, chicken parmigiana, ravioli and childrens linguine for dinner. All we can say was it was great and we will be back…with a reservation of course. Thanks Tom for getting us in.
Amazingly Ordinary. Typical Italian restaurant….nothing special here. Food was OK, service was OK. If I were a guest of the party paying, I would return. I ordered Chicken Arabiata which was a sauted in a beef & tomato sauce- a slightly thicker sauce w/ capers, calamata olives & anchovies served over penne pasta. WAY too much marinara sauce….too little penne and was served in a bowl that was just oversized for the dish….didn’t present well. The Chocolate Chip Cannoli was very enjoyable. whstonemandining.blogspot.com
Not worth it. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner along with 3 others, so a party of 5. They sat us in the corner at a small table for 4 people. When we asked for something else, perhaps outside on the patio where you could at least hear yourself think, we were informed rather rudely that ALL the tables are reserved and we had to suck it up in the corner. I was later informed by a local that this rude lady was the owners wife. This place was extremely loud to where you couldn’t carry on a normal conversation at the table, not to mention everyone who walked the by the table bumped into the back of my chair. The food was alright, but the atmosphere blew it for me. What was supposed to be a nice relaxing dinner with my girlfriend and family, turned into a rather stressful ordeal. Parking is another issue we had. Don’t bring a nice car, especially one low to the ground because the parking lot is washed out dirt and gravel on the side of a hill.
The best Italian restaurant in NW Florida (maybe even the world!). We were referred by friends to Tradewinds a few years ago- had driven by dozens of times on the way to airport and missed spotting this ‘hole in the wall’. Since have eaten there dozens of times (despite 1 1/2 hour round trip from Santa Rosa Beach)…. My favorites are the mussels and linguini, pizza and Tom’s Pasta. Tom and Terry are delightful hosts and we enjoy seeing their success!
