This is a little gem of a restaurant for informal dining at reasonable prices. Some may prefer a more formal setting, but it suited us to a T. The physical setup has a resemblance to a fast food restaurant (open kitchen, basic tables and chairs, order at the counter, etc), but the resemblance to fast food ends there. The overall ambiance is wonderful – special – this is a happy place with good karma. Even the cooks smile out at you and offer greetings and goodbyes. The staff, especially the manager, Deena, will assist with menu explanations and suggestions, check to make sure all is to your satisfaction, and will engage in conversation to the extent the customer wishes to interact – without being over the top or intrusive. Tastes in BBQ type food are very individual, but for us this was some of the best BBQ food we have ever tasted. I ordered the brisket and rib combo. The brisket was as good as I have ever tasted. The ribs (pork in our case, but apparently giant beef ribs are available on Thursdays) were cooked to perfection – not over-cooked as often happens when ordering ribs in a restaurant. Also, the ribs were dry-rubbed with just the right amount of sauce drizzled on top. They were NOT smothered in some sickly sweet BBQ sauce as happens in most restaurants. My wife ordered the smoked Turkey Leg and it was big and juicy. Portions were just about right – we took home a sizable doggie bag. The main meals come with 2 sides and corn bread – and between us we had coleslaw (excellent), collard greens (excellent again), fried green tomatoes (not my thing!), macaroni and cheese (very good) . As extras we had candied bacon (sinful), and fried shrimp with a delicious dipping sauce. I am very particular about my corn bread, and this corn bread was well above average, though not a 10 out of 10.After a visit or two, this will feel like eating at a friend’s place. I suspect they will recognize us when we return and treat us like family. It’s that type of place. I think you will enjoy it.

Just stopped in to The Burning Oak BBQ Restaurant and had a wonderful lunch! The Rib & Brisket Combo Plate was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised that it came with TWO SIDES…the collard greens & coleslaw were equally delicious! The restaurant was extremely clean & the staff were incredibly helpful & friendly! I look forward to coming back for many return visits with my family and friends!
