Not what you think.. This is really more of a Latin American restaurant, its certainly not traditional Tex Mex.. If you are looking for gooey cheese fests, look elsewhere. I thought the food here was excellent, with many dishes not found elsewhere. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Even the green sauce on the enchiladas (certainly a more common dish) had a vibrancy to it. I had a dish described as a Yucatan specialty. I cannot vouch for the authenticity, but I can vouch for the deliciousness. It really amount to pulled pork, very flavorful but not spicy. The flavor palate tasted as much Indian as it did standard Mexican. This sounds odd but one of the best things I had was the refried beans. I hate refried beans, and most places seem to serve it straight out of the can. This was flavorful, and actually tasted like beans. Its a little thing, but speaks to what I think is high quality of the food here.Cant wait to come back to Miami to eat here.

Fantastically Authentic South Mexican Food. I went here the other night, having heard from my uncle that it was a great place to get real authentic Mexican food. My uncle was spot on. The service was excellent. From the moment we arrived, waiters were pleasant and eager to serve and help us. If anything, the service was a little uncoordinated, as multiple waiters asked us how we were doing, whether or not we had ordered, etc, (note, this was a relatively uncrowded night). We begin, as so many Mexican restaurants do, with chips and salsa. Normally, I don’t eat these, but their salsa was delicious. It was slightly spicy, had lots of roasted tomatoes, and was obviously homemade. Their guacamole, which I love, was fresh, delicious, and homemade too. We then ordered our food. Our food came extremely quickly, and was delicious. A member of my party had their Pulled Pork Special, which came in a tamarind sauce which was slightly spicy, and I must say was quite excellent. Another got the shrimp special. It came in a stone bowl, with rice, manchego cheese, and some vegetables. However, the shrimp was the best thing on the plate. Delicious! Definitely go there! It is good for vegetarians too!

GREAT. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. I wanted to go to a Mexican restaurant for dinner one night (I love Mexican food) when I was vacationing in Florida last week. Cheen Huaye had a high rating with many votes so I thought it must be good.I was not disappointed. The food was amazing and our drinks were delicious (I had red and white sangria, both with real fruit). Very authentic restaurant and the service was on point. I had such a positive dining experience that I went back the next day for lunch. And I will definitely be going back next time I’m in Florida.

Always great. We discovered this place a few years ago. Now it is a must visit every time we are in town. The best salsa. The mole is great, the tacos are great. The best thing here are the refried beans. Some places have bad beans, some are good, these are incredible. This is not tex-mex stuff, nothing dripping in cheese or over sauced. It is fresh and prepared with care by people who know what they are doing. Can’t wait til I’m back in town next month!

Very Disappointed. Went there 3 months ago and was disappointed. The food was void of flavor, service was slow. But last week we thought we would give it another try. I really like chicken enchaladas with salsa verde (tomatillo sauce) and although it is very simple to prepare, I guage a Mexican restaurtant’s quality by how well they prepare this dish. Once again I was very disappointed. The price is way too high for the poor quality. The chicken was not real, in the sense that it was flaked out of a can rather that properly marinated and sauted to give it the necessary flavor — it was extremely dry and bland, unseasoned, with nothing else in the tortilla like onions, etc. The sauce itself was also lacking flavor. Combined, the dry and flavorless chicken and the poorly executed sauce resulted in a very disappointing meal. Two lunch dishes, 1 beer and 1 soda came to $49.Sorry Cheen Huaye, after being once disappointed I will always give a restaurant a second chance, but never a third if they are consistently bad.
