The most horrible place ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. My order was a shrimp fried rice and fried chicken on the side. the chicken was extra hard and burnt and my rice had no shrimp. no condiments or anything. i called back to complain and they told me they don’t have shrimp in the rice. on the menu it clearly states that they serve shrimp fried rice!!!! ridiculous!!!!!!!!!! i would never recommend this place to no one. always problems with orders. this was the worse experience ever!!!!
This place had good food BUT BEWARE of the time you will spend waiting here!!! I came here with family (2 other people) and we spent 45 mins waiting! We spent 45 mins waiting because the boss lady puts in regular customers orders first even if you have been there first. It doesn’t matter what your ethnicity is, if you aren’t a regular you should be prepared to wait a long time for your food. The wait staff was attentive but the boss lady sucks!! I would recommend tipping the waitstaff separate in cash because the boss lady is not worth anything!
I highly recommend NOT to waste your time and money in this restaurant. I placed my Dimsum order TO GO inside the restaurant and I was told they’ll be ready in about 20 minutes (only 3 items) and I’ve been waiting now for more than half hour; close to an hour now. Finally ready!!! The Chinese lady hardly speak English and on top of that, she’s just plain rude. I asked for soy sauce and she told me Dough Knee so sauce!!! *smh* took my food and go
Fresh dim sum. Revisit Orlando, came across Golden Lotus inadvertently looking for the dim sum restaurant near International Drive we patronized a decade ago. We’ve had dim sum in major cities like SF, LA, Chicago, Indpls, Orlando, and I think NYC. There’s 2 types of dim sum restaurants – the big production with dozens of tables and mass processing and then there’s Golden Lotus – a smaller, more authentic and seems to be make to order because they do not have the push cart on the day we visited and dishes came out individually as they were readied after ticket order. Surprisingly found out my spouse is a dim sum cuisine critic after visiting this locale. I thought the dim sum was cooked fresh to order. We had char sue bo (bbq pork buns baked not steamed), har gow, sui mai, a couple orders of rice noodles (pork & beef/chinese vegetables), lotus paste deep fried pastry, sesame ball, pai guat (chopped steam spare rib), sticky rice. For me, it was all fresh and the noodles were wok-fried that only a seasoned wok can flavor. My spouse said the har gow shrimp was not as flavorful and seemed too diced. Har gow dough skin was a little sticky maybe over cooked but still good. As for the service, the first waitress was a mumbler and tried to speak one of the Chinese dialects with us. My spouse speaks Cantonese, I a little Toison neither of us Mandarin. It took us some effort to figure out the waitress was asking us if we ngeem cha (drink hot tea) or sui (water). 3 others served our food and oddly the elderly couple and the cashier spoke the best English of the lot. Most of the customers were Asian and were gabbing away as expected in a dim sum restaurant in their dialects. This is a quaint small restaurant tucked away in a strip mall and if you want that dining experience, this is the place in Orlando in a safe locale and near a new business district. I saw another review of this restaurant that cited their cleanliness but they obviously don’t visit true ethnic restaurants and know how real people outside the first world live day to day. You are here for the food if you want the domestic experience go to a mass produced big scale restaurant and you will probably get it.
Service is prompt and cordial. Very attentive to patrons. As an appetizer aficionado I loved their crab Rangoon ! Excellent! Other appetizers were also very good but the CR stood out ! Plan to come back! More reports shortly!
Authentic, but maybe too much. Tried bitter melon, spare ribs, and pork buns. Very Hong Kong dinner. I prefer the bitter melon soft (slightly overlooked) but dining here is like a blast from the past. The spare ribs were incredible. No deep fried sweet and sour chicken balls here.
Ok look the food was good, better than I expected, BUT, having said that I want to tell you that unless you are Chinese don’t expect any special treatment. Apparently if your skin is not yellow, you are not welcome here. All the families I saw were chinese and they were all treated like royalty. This was why I picked the place I figured that Chinese people would know good Chinese and where to get it if ya know what I mean. Seriously, If you are white, don’t waste you time or money in this racist establishment.
