  One of my favorite restaurants. Genuine Italian food made by a husband and wife straight out of Italy. The owner switches between walking around the restaurant greeting people and helping his wife cook in the kitchen. Our friends from new york city also claim this to be the best Italian restaurant. So this is terrific italian food from 2 different cities! Absolutely everything on the menu is delicious and 100% authentic. And just so you all know, they don’t put fried calamari on the menu, but if you call about a half hour to an hour ahead, they’ll make it for you. I have never heard anyone say that they found better fried calamari anywhere. Incredible restaurant.

  Hands down best most authentic restaurant in fort lauderdale. We drove down from pompano to test out this new place but found out it was there for 20 years already. we’ve had the prociutto and mozzarella antipasto, with buffalo mozzarella, and real extra virgin olive oil. then I’ve had a pasta with muscles and clams and it was delicious, big mussels, fresh seafood. my wife bucatini amatriciana, and was prepared with real pancetta. if u want to taste real italian food, hands down best most authentic restaurant in fort lauderdale is cafe italia oakland park

  Flavorless, slow, and RUDE! — GO ELSEWHERE!. Our meal started off with the waitress throwing down salads consisting only of romaine lettuce with 3 cucumber and tomato slices on the side. After taking a few bites we realized the salads didn’t have any dressing. Several minutes later the waitress showed up with a bowl with some vinaigrette. Even with dressing, the greens tasted like the cheap bagged kind and the dressing was lackluster. Fresh bread was served after the salad. It would have been the highlight of the meal if it wasn’t spoiled with cheap olive oil. Usually Italian restaurants bring excellent tasting oil to the table, to the point I often find myself asking for the name of it. Here the oil tasted so vile I found myself reaching for the tiny butter packets. ONE HOUR LATER our entree’s arrived – Rigatoni with Broccoli and Shrimp and the specialty of the house, Snapper. Both were flavorless and had a musty taste. Even the side of pasta with marinara would have been better with store bought Ragu.Recommendation: Cafe Italia is worse than the Olive Garden. Do yourself a favor and choose one of the other exceptional restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. If you’re looking for the best Italian in South Florida try Perricone’s in Miami. Food: 0/10 Ambiance: 1/10 – Nothing like dining in an office building next to a raucous strip clubService: 1/10 – slow & inept
